exclusive premiere: Dudley Strangeways – Fred (Mortalyf Remix) [Leftback]

The 10th release on Leftback‘s digital sublabel Intercities sees regulars Dudley Strangeways and Mortalyf joining forces once again for a split EP titled “No Help For Fred”. Designed with their distinct low slung minimal rhythms and textures, the tracks provide a balanced sound that smoothly swings from deep to engaging arrangements.

Launched back in 2020, Leftback Intercities series was created to focus exactly on the same sound as the main vinyl label, allowing more output from the regular roster of artists while also welcoming new and upcoming talent to the family. The digital adventures include amazing originals and remixes signed by the likes of Cosmic Clap, Annie Errez, Bunny CWC, Zenk, Empat, Trixie, Matt Star, Chklte, Herck, TIJN and Micallef, among others.

While the original mix of “Fred” by Dudley Strangeways flows with groovy electric frequencies, twisted samples and shuffling percussion, Mortalyf chooses a rather mysterious approach, transforming the track into an introspective carousel of eerie sounds, spacious background atmospheres and equally engaging drumming patterns. The other tracks dive into raw minimal and crunchy broken beats, from the steady-paced versions of “Basics” to the dancefloor-oriented “Can’t Help But Think” and the intricate design of “On The Spot”.
