exclusive premiere: DJ Rocca – Fix Up Elgam [Memento]

This year Memento Records celebrates sixteen years of activity with a string of amazing releases and surprises ready to roll, like 16 shows in 16 cities hosted by label head Idriss D alongside artists that collaborate with the imprint and friends. Live performances will be matched by in-store appearances, supporting local vinyl resellers and electronic music enthusiasts. Since its inception back in 2006, the venture brought forward numerous materials that explore music without boundaries, from house and techno to ambient and breakbeat. Among the artists that worked with the label we find Fabrizio Maurizi, Matteo Vanti, Enrico Gasperini (gAs), Danny Benedettini, Lee Van Dowski, Mirko Loko, Okain, Eduardo De La Calle, Ten Walls, Blue Mondays and Lino Pugliese.

The first anniversary release for 2022 marks the 46th instalment in Memento’s catalogue and features veteran Italian producer Luca Roccatagliati aka DJ Rocca, who delivers four fresh cuts in the form of “Tracks From The Renaissance” EP. Designed with bright moments and dark excursions bounded by a deep clubing awareness, the material packs an exquisite sonic flavour and groovy sounds fitted for any dancefloor. Today, we invite you to enjoy the full-length vibes of the closing track “Fix Up Elgam” exclusively on feeder sound.

DJ Rocca‘s first releases came out in the late 90s, exploring drum&bass and breakbeat under the Maffia Soundsystem moniker, representing the legendary Italian club withe same name. Since then he continuously developed his mixing and production skills, collaborated with numerous artists and released his music with Sonar Kollektiv, Compost, Rekids, Skint, Hell Yeah Recordings, Rebirth, Futureboogie Recordings, !K7, Deep Freeze, Tirk, Defected, Gomma, Rotters Golf Club, Paper Recordings and his own label, Danny Was A Drag King. He’s also widely known for his works with Howie B, Pressure Drop, Zed Bias, Dimitri From Paris, Chris Coco, Daniele Baldelli, Jazzanova and Franco D’Andrea as well as for his side projects Ajello (with Taver), Supersonic Lovers (with Marcello Giordani) and Crimea X (with Jukka Reverberi).

Blending together retro drums, futuristic synth lines and organic arrangements, “Tracks From The Renaissance” is that kind of an album that smoothly incorporates clubbing aesthetics with introspective states of mind. The overall sound receives influences from breakbeat, tech house and minimal, with a pinch of experimental. Just like a breath of fresh air, all four tracks flow with a distinct dynamic that will surely entertain thousands of people worldwide.
