Various (Direkt, Guy From Downstairs, Martin M, Venda) – RM15003 [Room 15]
Hungarian record label Room 15 returns with its third vinyl-only pressing in the form of an amazing Various Artists compilation featuring Direkt, Guy From Downstairs, Venda and label head Martin M. Designed with solid minimal techno influences, the record adds even more magic to the imprint’s catalogue and relentless activity, which includes collaborations with artists like Maik Yells, Andre Lemont, Suciu, Herodot, Christopher Ledger, Ada Kaleh, Fabe, Cristi Cons and Julian Perez, among others. Throughout time, Room 15 has steadily gained international attention, enjoying massive support from established selectors in the scene as well as from eager partygoers and this material makes no exception. Let’s dive in!
Side A sets off with Direkt‘s “Fluorine”, a steady-paced minimal rhythm flavoured with deep quirky textures, warm pads and spacious breakdowns. The focus falls on the organic narrative here, with the drumming patterns leading an ever-evolving story. Following, “Genelor” by Guy From Downstairs reveals an eerie journey led by heavily modulated vocals and a stripped-down percussive core that can easily make anyone move their body in an instant while vividly daydreaming.
On the flipside Martin M goes cosmic with “Outer Space”, unleashing a solid stripped-down chugging beat that elegantly gets complemented by Venda‘s stellar closing cut “Simone”. A highly recommended 12″ right here for collectors, DJs and electronic music enthusiasts!
