Nici Frida – Traffic EP (w. Silat Beksi Remix) [324 Records]

Parisian imprint 324 Records returns with its fourth vinyl pressing in the form of “Traffic EP” signed by German DJ and producer Nici Frida alongside Silat Beksi on remix duties. The material adds even more magic to the label’s extended catalogue, which includes both vinyl and digital entries from artists like Petit Batou, Lixir, Tony Loi, Ramona Yacef, Alex Boneti, Scott Ward, Luke Hazell, Vincent Giumelli, Rods Novaes and Luca Ferrari, among many many others.

Based in Frankfurt, Nici Frida started to produce his own sounds when he was only 15 years old and continuously delivered top-quality productions ever since. Throughout time, he collaborated with Innocent Music Deep, eMBi Music, Subtatic, Welter, Raw Trax, Voltaire Music, Tip Tap, DPE, Zeitlos Music, Tzinah, Perception Dub, Related, Whoystro, Atum Records and Kootz Music, to name just a few. As a selector and event organiser, he’s well-known for his Beatgreed party which takes place in different clubs and locations, inviting artists from all over the world to perform for the people, creating lasting good vibes and memories.

Side A is reserved for the title track “Traffic” and its remix. While the original reveals a warm steady-paced minimal tech rhythm imbued with a touch of subtle melancholy, Silat Beksi opts for a twisted reinterpretation, raising the tempo a bit and adding numerous variations and breakdowns to the story while keeping the energy intact. On the flipside we first find “Augmented Reality”, a low-slung groover focused on its drumming patterns, ethereal textures, inviting vocals and spacious breaks. “Friends” on the other hand closes the EP with a joyous rhythm that will definitely make anyone slide into vivid daydreams. A highly recommended 12″ right here for collectors and selectors alike!
