Thomas Melchior provides a foretaste of his upcoming album in the form of Closer EP, delivering two hypnotizing tracks with Perlon under his Melchior Productions Ltd moniker. After he first made a name for himself at the beginning of the 90s releasing on Aphex Twins’ Rephlex label as part of electronica duo Vulva and later as Yoni on Move D’s Source Records, Melchior and techno legend Baby Ford released various works as Sunpeople or Soul Capsule. He was also a resident DJ at Ibiza’s Circoloco and DC 10 while releasing numerous productions with Playhouse, Cadenza, Lick My Deck, [a:rpia:r], Concealed Sounds, LoMidHigh Organic, his own playground Aspect Music and, of course, Perlon. Recently, Thomas Melchior founded a new label for his musical productions and talented artists, called “My king is light“.

One of the genre-defining labels in the world of minimal techno and microhouse, Perlon has been a beacon for top-quality modern electronic music since 1997 when Markus Nikolai, Thomas Franzmann (Zip) and Chris Rehberger set sails with their first release. Throughout time the catalogue rapidly grew to include amazing works from artists like Ricardo Villalobos, Benjamin Wild, Luciano, Mathew Jonson, Fumiya Tanaka, Bruno Pronsato, Audio Werner, Sammy Dee, Margaret Dygas, A Guy Called Gerald, Maayan Nidam, Wareika and many many other accomplished artists as well.

With one track on each side, Thomas Melchior‘s latest release evokes deep and introspective moods, seen from slightly different perspectives. A1, “Closer (California Dreaming Mix)“, explores a swinging bright vibe focused on a trippy vocal narrative and elegantly modulated guitar chords lead by a steady-paced rhythm while on the flip side, “Endless Skies” goes for a melancholic drive powered by a resonant bassline, dubby drumming patterns, mellow background textures and ethereal echoing vocals.
