Lulla – Nozdormu EP (w. Triptil Remix) [Colors Of Crocus]

Colors Of Crocus canvas series presents another amazing minimal adventure, this time with Cedesciu Wax label-head Lulla at the controls alongside Triptil on remix duties. Established in 2019 as a sublabel of Crocus, the imprint previously published works from Kirik, Alex Pervukhin and Moray, bringing forward pleasant, emotional and simply beautiful electronic music exclusively on vinyl, in a limited number of copies. Inspired by the tracks of this EP, Ukrainian painter Konstantin Tereshchenko provided his artistic work called “Морская” for the cover.

The Miami-based DJ and producer Marco Santamaria aka Lulla is no stranger to our platform, as he’s been a returning presence to our EP Reviews and Exclusive Premiere columns. Side A opens with the title track “Nozdormu”, a twisted steady-paced minimalistic cut powered by raw electric synth sweeps, a solid wobbling bassline, numerous rhythmic variations and smooth tension-building breaks. Next, “Chromatic” drops a rather dreamy atmosphere where the warm background textures elegantly blend with the filtered synth stabs and echoing vocal samples. Here, the breakdowns are more spacious and the 124 bpm tempo makes this piece perfect for already heated dancefloors.

On the flipside we first find Triptil‘s reinterpretation of the title track which takes the original into an uptempo carousel of emotions by adding extra arpeggios and effects, fitted for peak-time moments at any party, followed by the breezy vibes of “Talisman”. The closing cut seems to evoke a melancholic mood like the one you get from an ocean drive-by, taking the listener into a vivid journey down the coastline where the calm waves and the salty air create a relaxing and introspective state of mind. A highly recommended record right here for collectors and selectors alike!
