Various Artists (Direkt, Amo, Alex Font & Lulla) – Third Stream 005 [Third Stream]

The fifth instalment in Third Stream‘s catalogue delivers an outstanding minimal sound crafted by Direkt, Amo and label-head Alex Font in collaboration with Lulla. Dedicated to the real diggers, the imprint functions as a sublabel of Acmé, bringing forward inspiring electronic music so far signed by Alex himself and artists like Incolor, Olivian Nour, Silat Beksi and Florian Meffert. Throughout time, the venture gained massive support from lots of people in the scene, proving that even without intensive promotion or anything fancy, visionary producers, DJs and music enthusiasts rooted in the underground movement have been aware of those sounds, and here’s more!

Side A kicks in with the stripped-down rhythm of “Blob” by Direkt, a straight-forward twisted minimal cut focused on its hypnotic drumming arrangements and complementary effects. Following, Amo takes the tempo a bit higher with “Intuition”, dropping a wobbling composition perfect for peak-time moments at any party. Here, the highly-modulated vocal samples add even more magic to the whole, while the spiralling synth notes create an eerie mood, no doubt! On the flipside we first find Alex Font & Lulla with “Cheetah”, a solid minimalistic groover flavoured with electric sweeps and turns, as well as “Reasons” from Direkt, who closes this amazing VA with a proper techy banger. A highly recommended release right here, soon to be available exclusively on vinyl in a limited number of copies!
