Various Artists – HouseOnWax019 [HouseOnWax]

Inspired by the early white label house music releases, Slovenian imprint HouseOnWax always delivers amazing materials exclusively on vinyl. The 19th instalment in the catalogue arrives in the form of a Various Artists compilation featuring Coral O’Connor, Sound Process & Franco Strato, Schime and Juzel. This adds even more magic to a discography that also includes works from artists like Mancini, Laurent Ci, Ale Castro, Soundub, Juliche Hernandez, Paul Rudder, Devv, Jacobo Saavedra and Matt Meller, among others. The record arrives in a limited number of copies so make sure this ends up in your bag before it runs out of stock!

HouseOnWax019 delivers smooth house-infused vibes that explore the dreamy dimensions of deep house and microhouse with subtle tech-house influences here and there. Side A opens with Coral O’Connor’s “Press”, a steady-paced groover flavoured with warm textures, hypnotic vocals, spacious breakdowns and swinging synth arrangements. The feeling is passed over to “Could It Be” by Sound Process & Franco Strato which picks up the pace a bit as it spins into an engaging and organic narrative focused on its main vocal sample. Time to dance!

On Side B we first find Hungarian Dj and producer Schime with “Escape”, a techy rhythm that exhibits the artist’s fingerprint sound: wobbling sounds, crisp drumming patterns, deep emotive synths and lush, beatless breathing moments. Closing, Juzel drops “Cloudy Coffee Sunday”, an uptempo cut perfect for laid-back selections and the afterhours. A highly recommended 12″ right here for collectors and selectors alike!
