The first vinyl release coming from the freshly founded record label Margate features Dutch artist Odette alongside local icon Suciu on remix duties. Headed by Vincent Casanova [Stay Random Natasha], the imprint aims to showcase house-infused tracks with a focus on remixers who bring a more abstract interpretation as a compliment to the classicism inherent in the concept. “Save My Memory” EP drops an inspiring and energetic sound, perfect for peak-time moments as well as for the after-hours.

Based in Amsterdam, Odette is an established DJ and producer who always delivers a unique blend of minimal, house and techno, guaranteed to take anyone into a one of a kind journey into the realms of modern electronic music. She surely knows how to pay tribute to the history of these genres and her extended experience stands a solid argument for her skills, either we talk about her own productions, DJ sets or live performances. Among the labels, she collaborated with we find Denise Records, Baile Musik, Deep Tech Records, Saint and Don’t, Rewire, Tip Tap Records, Moss Co., Kindisch, Heisenberg, Soundterrasse, Bauns and Depth Over Distance, to name just a few. In 2019 she establishes her own label VDK which now counts four vinyl-only titles, followed one year later by VDK DGTL which serves as a digital playground for her musical creativity.

Side A opens with the title track “Save My Memory”, revealing a driving uptempo rhythm powered by a solid bassline, wobbling synth arrangements, twisted effects and a swinging narrative, perfect to get your groove on. Following, “Upscale” switches for a deeper mood where numerous reverberations and heavily modulated vocals add extra magic to a rather melancholic theme built around warm background textures and steady-paced drumming sequences. On the flipside, Suciu‘s reinterpretation of A1 takes the original cut into a dimly lighted dimension, unveiling a brooding club-melter that bubbles its way into sub-paradise at 125 bpm. A highly recommended 12″ for collectors and selectors alike!
