For this episode of our ongoing podcast series, we explore the Romanian underground scene alongside up and coming artist Onu.

Let’s get one thing straight, when it comes to electronic music, Onu‘s not playing unless it’s a banger that keeps everyone up ’til the break of dawn. The club scene in Ploiesti from the early 2000s was a huge influence as the parties were rolling and top-notch diggers started to arise keeping it fresh and simple. It was the perfect time to ride the wave and Onu jumped right on it and rose to the occasion. He enjoys surfing through genres, but he can’t resist a 4/4 groovy jam. There’s a lot of great music flying around and it’s hard to keep up but he managed to synthesize the essence and deliver it raw.

“I guess I am that kind of person that is always surrounded by music. Digging every day, listening to music every day. Always searching for something new. And I have been doing this for a lot of time.”

The selection reveals carefully blended steady-paced rhythms that explore minimal techno and microhouse, keeping it deep and driving at the same time. Needless to say, it’s the type of music you can’t sit down to, just take a listen and see for yourself!

Young creatives (designers, architects, illustrators, graphic designers, visual artists and musicians) can now make their debut with the possibility of self-publishing on the online interactive platform digitizArte.ro.
