exclusive premiere: Pelayo – Mirame a Los Ojos (Son of Elita Dubby CUT) [Eli.sound]
The next instalment in Eli.sound‘s inspiring digital series presents up and coming Chilean artist Matias Pelayo or simply Pelayo (P3layo) alongside Garzia and label-head Son of Elita on remix duties. The material drops a solid minimal tech sound, elegantly flavoured with exotic nuances and experimental approaches, thus adding even more magic to the label’s catalogue which recently included works from CL-ljud, Stefano Andriezzi, qqqq, Nicolas Barnes and other amazing artists as well. The first vinyl has also arrived in the form of a proper Various Artists compilation about which you can find out more from our review here.
A rather fresh name in the scene, Pelayo drops two dancefloor bombs designed with twisted drumming patterns, heavy basslines, carefully crafted breakdowns and distinct narratives. The original take on “Rie”, twists and turns around trumpet notes, “Mirame a Los Ojos” goes deeper, exploring laid-back jazzy vibes. Garzia‘s remix goes fully experimental, blending broken beats, samples and wobbling layers altogether into an uplifting journey while our featured track sees Son of Elita bringing forward a driving dubby take of the original, where all the layers can make your body move in seconds!
