Breman – Bassline Overdose EP [Nocturn Records]

Nocturn Records invites us to dive into the sounds of the night with their first pressing titled “Bassline Overdose EP” signed by Vlad Bretan and Manu Burculet aka Breman. This collaboration aims to explore new territories in the electronic music field with deep strong bass and noisy signals as leitmotifs. The EP elegantly follows the duo’s debut last year on Alex Rusu‘s Asterism Music with “Multiple Games”, receiving early support from artists like Barac, Lizz, Prichindel and others.

Based in Transylvania, the team behind Nocturn has been active for quite some time now, organising amazing events headed by DeWalta, Bread&Butter, Cap, Herck, Incolor, Somesan, Primarie, Timirash, RQZ, Sepp, Herodot, Los Bastoneros, Bryz, Fictiv and, of course, Vlad and Manu. Becoming a vinyl-only label was just a matter of time and this first record sure delivers the vibes, so expect only top-notch releases in the future.

Both tracks, “Hummingbird” and “Bassline Overdose”, deliver a solid minimal sound designed with steady-paced rhythms, twisted background textures and effects, spacious breakdowns, eerie vocal samples and a certain type of swing perfect for dimly lighted dancefloors. The subtle dark influences add even more magic to the whole concept so this wax should totally make its way into your vinyl collection. Highly recommended!
