After the massive success of their first pressing with userUNKNWN and Soyro at the controls last year, Vietnamese record label Rhanamh returns with a second instalment, this time bringing forward two fresh cuts signed by Russian Dj and producer Balinsky and a remix by local artist Direkt. Titled “Visuality EP”, the wax arrives in a limited number of only 300 copies while early support comes from artists like Sepp, Raresh, Mihai Pol, Ted Amber, Vincentiulian, Cosmjn, Vlad Arapasu and Barac, to name a few.

Stirring dancefloors with driving rhythms and trippy effects, Alexander Balinsky is one of the next generation of producers to emerge from Moscow’s simmering underground scene. His style blends deep and soulful resonances, introspective minimalistic themes and creative narratives, either we talk about his productions or selections. Among the imprints he so far collaborated with we find ÉTÉ, Fantastic Friends Recordings, System 108, Griffintown Records, as well as his own independent venture, Raccoon’s Rules.

The EP opens with the breezy vibes of the title track “Visuality”, a steady-paced minimal journey designed with subtle progressive aspects. The wobbling bassline and the prominent percussion lead the background layers and the complementary effects into a resonant dimension where vocal cuts and spacious breakdowns create a mysterious feeling. Direkt‘s remix transforms the original into a more abstract composition, equally groovy and fitted for peak-time moments on the dancefloor. The raw synth melodies and the shuffling drumming patterns are in focus here. On the flipside, “Needle Drop” switches gears for a more laid-back sound elegantly crafted with broken beats, melancholic textures and lush breathing moments. A highly recommended 12″ right here for collectors and selectors alike!
