exclusive premiere: Cosmic Clap – Away (Dudley Strangeways Remix) [Leftback]

French producer Cosmic Clap returns to Leftback‘s Intercities digital series with “Extraction EP” alongside label-head Dudley Strangeways on remix duties. Designed with solid stripped-down rhythms, ethnic melodic overtones and hypnotic overlayed textures perfect for a dimly lighted dancefloor, the material adds even more magic to the label’s catalogue and elegantly follows last year’s “Precious Light EP” which includes collaborations with Bunny CWC and Zenk of Micro Orbit Records.

Based in Lyon, Cosmic Clap is well-known for his releases with Akta Records, Stash Trax, Ekoute Sa Poto, Peculiar Plants, Razom, PhonicHouse1, Unknown Records and Urban Midi Records as well as for his equally introspective and driving selections. Today, we invite you to enjoy an exclusive preview of his latest works in the form of the full-length “Away” reinterpreted by Dudley Strangeways.

While the original version of the track is powered by a low-slung raw minimal rhythm backed up by exotic melodies, Dudley adds more tempo and resonance, keeping it mysterious by subtly working on the details of the drumming patterns and background horns. The other tracks are equally enjoyable, delivering steady-paced grooves nicely complemented by warm and eerie layers, subtle twisted effects and carefully placed breakdowns. Listen to the snippets below:

“Extraction EP” arrives on Leftback’s Bandcamp page on 23rd August and in all other stores on 20th September.
