Manchester-based events platform, podcast series and international community Mödum have taken their musical journey to the next level as they announced their first vinyl-only instalment to arrive soon with Vadim Oslov at the controls alongside local artist Vid on remix duties. Titled “Katmandhu Ascension”, the record delivers a solid minimal sound flavoured with dark tones, twisted effects and energetic grooves, that will definitely catch everyone’s attention, in front or behind the decks.

French artist Vadim Oslov has built a reputation for his signature percussive style and deep obscure baselines accompanied by influences from contemporary music and organic sounds that create mysterious experimental atmospheres with a minimal touch. Until now, some of his productions have been brought forward through Miden, Alter Hour, Fratii.ro, Mountain Series, Textures Ltd and his own venture Ochii, rapidly gaining support from established DJs and producers in the scene. For this EP he invites Vid to deliver his own magic on one of the tracks as the material’s atmosphere provides a perfect setting for this collaboration.

Designed with hypnotic stripped-down rhythms and abstract background textures, the three originals perfectly showcase the artist’s distinct take on minimalism. The driving flow of the narratives is created by a perpetual motion of all the layers, spacious and carefully placed breakdowns, intricate arrangements and, of course, a lot of attention to the details during the production process for sure. Vid’s reinterpretation of A2 adds an extra resonance to the whole concept as the drumming patterns, the bassline and some of the complementary elements are more dynamic and reveal a subtle yet powerful swing.
