Italian record label Miden announces its first vinyl instalment to arrive soon with French artist Vadim Oslov at the controls alongside local DJ and producer RQZ on remix duties. Titled “Da Gong EP”, the material provides three solid minimal cuts and marks an important moment in the imprint’s evolution, which so far published amazing digital releases signed by Jonas Hassan & Room 323, Salishteanul, Dumi, Alex Ungureanu, Vlad Bretan, Empat, Firesc, Surariu, Dr.Nojoke and IZA. Since its inception, Miden enjoyed massive support from the international community, having its music played by artists like Petre Inspirescu, Barac, Mihigh, Direkt, Sepp, Vinyl Speed Adjust, Viceversa, Cally, Vlad Arapasu, Cosmjn and many others.

The music produced by Vadim Oslov is defined by a lot of different influences. With minimal vibes accentuated towards deep and experimental, it combines catchy rhythms, contemporary and concrete sounds, delivering an obscure, dissonant and bewitching atmosphere. Aside from numerous independent materials, among the labels he so far collaborated with we find Fratii.ro, Alter Hour, Mödum, Mountain Series, Textures Ltd, Calimera Records, Anamorph, Capucine and his own freshly founded venture Ochii.

Side A opens with the original take on “Da Gong” revealing a steady-paced rhythm flavoured with abstract background textures and effects, inspiring vocal samples and several variations. The focus clearly falls on the drumming patterns here, which are set to spin into a hypnotic affair perfect for dimly lighted dancefloors. The “Black Sand Remix” by RQZ maintains this energy, dropping a stripped-down sound that receives additional editing and complementary layers. On the flipside we find “Orient Karma”, an equally trippy minimalistic composition where crunchy kicks and snares lead an eerie narrative beyond the realm of the senses. Definitely a must-have record for minimal lovers, collectors and selectors alike!
