Austrian imprint Movin’ returns with its fourth pressing, a steaming Various Artists compilation featuring Lorik, stevn.aint.leavn, Direkt and Julien Sandre. Each artist shapes the record in his own way, resulting in an eclectic selection focused on taking the listener through various shades of modern electronic music. Founded by Philipp Lichtblau in 2017 in Vienna, Movin‘ functions as a vinyl-only record label as well as an events agency that reaches different clubs and cities, spreading its distinct vision and love for the music to the underground community. MVN004 enjoys early support from [a:rpia:r], Priku, Nu Zau, Cosmjn, Viceversa, Iuly B. and others.

On Side A we first find Lorik with “Time Out”, a solid groove powered by intricate drumming patterns, eerie textures, evolving variations and playful synth arrangements. There’s a mysterious feeling embedded in the layers here, perceivable as an organic flow of all the sounds and edits. Following, “Votava” by stevn.aint.leavn switches gears for a higher tempo while dropping a truly hypnotic affair to the table. The reverberating piano notes create a haunting atmosphere as the twisting and turning synth effects resonate into a psychedelic dimension emphasized by carefully placed breakdowns.

On the “Flipside” Direkt delivers a driving rhythm beautifully complemented by cosmic pads and textures, glitched structures and warm melodies that merge into an introspective narrative while “Metamorfosi” by Julien Sandre closes the wax with a steady-paced composition that explores the deep aspects of microhouse and breaks.
