feeder sound exclusive premiere: Topology – Halah (Dragutesku Remix) [VRNT]
Canadian venture VRNT (sub-label of зброї / Zbroyi) announces the release of “Halah / Kazu EP” to arrive soon on vinyl with label-head April Terry aka Topology at the controls alongside Dragutesku and Roger Gerressen on remix duties. The 12″ will be pressed in a limited number of copies and represents another great achievement for the label, which is well known for its ongoing podcast series and showcase events hosted by artists like Faster, Orlesko, Kris Schultz, Janeret, Rennie Foster and Ada Kaleh, to name just a few.
Today we dive deep into the record with Dragutesku‘s remix for “Halah” exclusively on feeder sound and explore the other tracks in more depth as well. Enjoy the ride!
“This remix was a big challenge for me because it comes at the same time when I was trying to finish my sample pack. It is so frustrating as artists because people think we are so creative in these challenging times; actually, we are not.”Dragutesku
The two original cuts, “Halah” and “Kazu”, are both designed with solid minimal influences, providing a steady-paced flow of all the elements that elegantly intertwine to form hypnotic rhythms. The low-end frequencies are beautifully balanced, the background textures focus on setting the mood and the percussion remains groovy and inviting throughout the two tracks. Dragutesku keeps the stripped-down arrangement of the original while adding dark tones, subtly reverberated layers and twisted effects to the story. On his reinterpretation, the breakdowns become more spacious and heavily modulated vocals can be heard here and there as well. Roger Gerressen closes the wax with his uplifting remix, bringing forward introspective vibes and abstract patterns that smoothly complement the whole concept. VRLTD001 is mastered by Mike Grinser at Man Made Mastering Studio.
