After last year’s successful launch with “Empirical Test Vol. I” Various Artist compilation, the Spanish imprint Bohrium Records returns with its second pressing in the form of “Zirconiu EP” signed by French artist Lucas Morello aka Lukea alongside local Dj and producer Macarie on remix duties. The 12” arrives in a limited number of 300 copies with no-repress announced starting with the 15th of April, so make sure this record ends up in your collection as it provides a sublime minimal journey focused on combinations of eerie melodies, uplifting rhythms and warm, immersive textures.

Aside from this EP’s protagonists, the team behind Bohrium Records operates from Madrid and includes Angel Mosteiro and Joel Vazquez aka Akela, Avidel, Cojoc and Marques Sigi, who elegantly deliver the proper kind of vibes to the international underground electronic music community through their amazing productions and distinct vision upon house, microhouse, minimal techno and all the inspiring possibilities that form when combining them all.

Lukea is well-known for his collaborations with Puls, Red District, Fixed:composite, Micronica, Wonderground, Recordeep, H24 Records, Vivus Records and Rayzeh as well as for his numerous independent releases, remixes and straight groovy edits of popular tracks, adding his own kind of magic to each one. Originally from Toulouse and now established in Paris, Lucas draws inspiration from various genres while his skills as a drummer sure provide a solid experience when it comes to music-making. Currently, he’s working on launching Elysium Ltd record label, expected in the course of 2021.

Opening the B-Side with an uplifting note, “Zirconiu” drops a steady-paced minimalistic ride flavoured with progressive arrangements, a driving wobbling bassline and several variations that reveal vivid melodic sequences elegantly intertwined with mysterious vocal cuts that add an exotic and electric feeling to the whole composition. Following and closing the wax, Macarie‘s remix takes the original into a darker dimension, maintaining the driving energy as the transformations are more dancefloor-oriented.

Side A opens with “A Pierdut Noaptea”, a deeply introspective piece powered by a smooth soft guitar riff followed by a graceful and stylish bassline which evolves into melancholic background stories while the spacious breakdowns power up the percussion with the just-right amount of energy. “Aurorae” follows the pattern yet reveals a different narrative, focused on reverberated effects, dubby sequences and proper minimal drumming patterns.
