Berlin-based imprint As Usual Music returns with yet another amazing release in the form of “Sirens & Signals EP” signed by crew member and rising talent Flo Pirke alongside Italian Dj and producer Matteo Gatti and label-head Bee Lincoln on remix duties. Starting in 2013 as a weekly event series dedicated to electronic music in Crack Bellmer, As Usual Music became a fully functioning record label and booking agency in 2017, delivering top-notch productions and services to an international audience. Aside from the regular roster, the outlet also collaborated with artists like Enzo Leep, Jaco, Someone Else, Arnold Kleine, Luca Fiorelli, Miro Pajic and Gabriel Ferreira, to name just a few.

Flo Pirke is certainly one of Berlin’s upcoming artists, always dropping a fresh and consistent sound in the studio or behind the decks. Having an extended experience in the underground scene as a selector, he constantly explores and works on polishing his own sound when it comes to music-making, incorporating various influences into his final productions. Among the labels who published him so far we find KlangWild, Zoned Recordings, Compute Music, Rewire and Tip Tap, while more is reserved for the near future. On this EP he goes for an inspiring combination of uplifting minimal and deep tech vibes while inviting Matteo Gatti and Bee Lincoln to provide their own tech house-oriented interpretations of “Signals” in order to properly complete the journey with style.

“Sirens” happened in a hot summer Sunday afternoon session, it was sort of inspired straight after a secret rave. That day I got mad with my friends about this siren sound.

“Sirens” opens the EP with a thundering uptempo rhythm designed for the dancefloor. The recipe includes a wobbling bassline and slick, sharp synth stabs that add an extra swing to the drumming patterns as well as hypnotic background textures and carefully placed short breakdowns. Cheering with the horn sounds, it definitely shouts out for more. Following, “Signals” reveals a quirky minimal/tech sound infused with numerous microelements while the energy is maintained throughout the whole ride. The track receives two remixes, with Matteo Gatti taking the original into a bass-heavy dimension built around deep and driving sequences at a slower tempo and Bee Lincoln going for an intricate, electric reinterpretation where all the elements pass through a whirlpool of several variations.
