Jeff Sorkowitz – 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea EP feat. WLAD & Ken Kelly Remixes [Andhera Records]
NYC label Andhera Records keep the pressure on right up to the end of the year with a new EP from Jeff Sorkowitz. 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea has two originals and on point remixes from Ken Kelly and WLAD.
The title track is a bubbling and slick, deep and heady house tune with lush melodies. It’s one for the coinsuassers out there and really takes off at the mid point on the slick drums and long tailed pads. WLAD is the hedZup Records founder and his version is more busy and dense, with kinetic kicks and a rasping bassline riding up and down the scales to great effect. Bacon Grease then pairs a timeless vocal sample with some super spaced out but driving house beats, gorgeous pads and rubbery kicks. It’s a nice balmy place to be with a late night feel and plenty of real emotions. Bacon Grease (Ken Kelly’s 2AM Funkdown) closes down with a more subtle version that is awash with dubby drums and pads and icy hi hats. All four cuts here are proper tasteful tackle.
