Various – From Paris To Rome Vol. 2 [Stamp Records]
Parisian imprint Stamp Records reveals the second volume of “From Paris To Rome” various artists compilation, bringing together French producers Phoq and label-head Petit Batou as well as the Italians Zenk, founder of Micro Orbit Records and Bauch. The record provides four uplifting rhythms elegantly designed with hypnotic flavours rooted in microhouse and minimal techno while early support arrives from Raresh, Arapu, Mihai Pol, Direkt, Silat Beksi and Costin Rp, among others.
Stamp Records is well-known for its numerous releases, showcase events and international support coming from DJs, producers and electronic music enthusiasts around the world. This material follows a series of musical connectivity going from France to Japan, Germany or Romania. Let’s dive in the wax and get energized!
Side A opens with “Day Of Reckoning” by Zenk which introduces the VA with a driving composition, exploring cosmic soundscapes through rich basslines, swinging wobbling pads, hypnotic vocal cuts and pumping drumming patterns perfect for peak time moments on any dancefloor. Following, Phoq takes the tempo beyond 125 BPM, streaming solid techy aquatic sequences with “Old Dog’s Voyage”. The spacious breakdowns reveal an organic evolution of the layers as energy keeps flowing through the percussion core elements.
On Side B we first find Petit Batou with “Klapaucius”, an immersive journey designed with prominent kicks and snares, rotating background textures and funny/introspective dialogues that add even more flavour to the whole. Closing, there’s the mysterious collaboration between Bauch, Henrik and Mai Lai titled “Confessions”. Here, a deeper vibration is in focus, smoothly transforming into a spiralling low-tempo emotional experience. A highly recommended 12” for collectors and selectors alike!
