Various – RDL002 [Red District]
Serbian imprint and event platform Red District returns with a second Various Artists compilation which brings forward a variety of musical gems from artists with a totally different musical influence and vision of minimal and microhouse music. RDL002 features four tracks signed by Primarie, Chiodan, CVTKVC and Zlatnichi while the previous compilation brought together Bryz, Stoilku, Peter Portman, Mikhu and label-head Marko Antonijevic aka Shimammo. A third VA is already in the making and an early announcement pointed out to Lukea, Vern, Bexu and Rares Romanov to be the ones in charge with the production.
Red District enjoys massive support from electronic music lovers and selectors alike as we’ve seen them present on deejay.de’s top 10 buzz chart as well as heard the tracks in various selections coming from established DJs. With such a great start we’re sure that the future will bring even more surprises and great music. Now. let’s explore RDL002 in more detail.
Primarie, the man behind Tzinah Records and our next guest DJ for the upcoming live transmission, opens the VA with “Cu Sau Fara Energie” dropping a minimalistic deep house sound designed with spacious breakdowns and warm vibrations. Next, Chiodan delivers “Cauta”, a stripped-back rotating piece infused with melancholic piano notes and a prominent arp in focus. Side B opens with “Rasharafu” by Sarajevo-based artist Zlatnichi which opts for a darker mood with his track. The tempo is also set a bit higher and the heavily modulated vocals add an eerie dimension to the whole journey. Closing the 12″ we find CVTKVC with “Nedogled”, a progressive take flavoured with reverberating elements and vast background textures. Each track has its own story to tell yet the selection is organic and inspiring. Highly recommended!
