Various Artists – ZMT 002 [Zimotik]

The second vinyl-only instalment to arrive from Moldavian imprint Zimotik features three solid minimalistic cuts signed by Bruno Pronsato, Luc Ringeisen and label-head Dubfound alongside Dopustim. Focused on deep and truly transcending electronic sounds, this venture set sails last year with yet another Various Artists compilation which brought forward tracks from Birdsmakingmachine, Marko Nastic, Coppe and Lowris. You can read more about here.

Side A is reserved for Bruno Pronsato‘s abstract piece “The Phone”, a slow-paced stripped-down composition flavoured with solid low-end frequencies and a vocal narrative that will make your mind drift in an instant. The hypnotic rotation delivers a spacious atmosphere which leaves enough room for other cuts to be added, making this journey a very usefull tool for skilled and visionary DJs.

Side B opens with “Just Why” by Luc Ringeisen, a more uplifting production which adds a perfect swing to the whole VA. The short synth stabs and wobbling bassline sure deliver a groovy outcome, perfect for peak-time moments. Closing, the collaboration between Dubfound and Dopustim titled “The Short Bed” keeps to the tempo while the background textures return to the abstract mood of A1. The percussive patterns do take some breaks from time to time, introducing amazing field-recordings and vocals that speak about a trippy story. Definitely a must-have for minimal lovers, collectors and selectors alike!
