Sanguina Records presents the fifth instalment in its Various Artists series alongside Kirik, Macarie, Bucurie & Dot13 and label-head Michel Degen. Expect some serious minimal vibes and diversity as each track showcases a distinct style and approach to modern electronica. Sanguina 005 adds even more magic to the imprint’s catalogue, where you will also find works signed by artists like Mikhu, Kepler, Prajescu, Fictiv and Herck, among others. Now, let’s dive into the VA and explore each cut in more detail.

Side A kick is with “Boat For Us” by Kirik, an ethereal steady-paced composition, where samples from religious chants are used in order to create a truly immersive atmosphere. The complementary micropatterns, swirling effects and spacious breakdowns carefully blend into an organic narrative that’s ready to take your mind and body to otherworldly dimensions. Next, there’s “Angry Patterns” dropped by Macarie, a driving piece flavoured with swinging pads, heavily modulated subtle voices and prominent synth stabs that create a solid rotating swing, perfect for any kind of dancefloor.

On Side B the adventure begins with Michel Degen‘s “I’m Not Romanian But…”, a twisting and turning abstract rhythm designed with phased percussive patterns, numerous background elements and solid glitching. The flow remains thumping throughout while the oscillations add even more spice to the whole story. Closing, Bucurie joins forces with Dot13, delivering “One Step Ahead”, an out-of-the-box composition that blends IDM elements, broken beats and long, bright melodic textures which are emphasised by ample, clear breathing spaces, all packed into an alluring odyssey. Bucurie is also our guest DJ for the final episode of our feeder sound live-streaming series for this year, where he’ll be joined by iZZY iZVNE who will use her street art and graffiti skills to paint a huge canvas, blending music and visual art with style.
