Barac – The First Thing EP [Blue]

After several collaborations dropped on Shamandrum and Moment Records, Remus invites Barac to his freshly established Blue series with “The First Thing EP”. Just like we’re accustomed to, the artist delivers a transcending, unmistakable sound packed in two distinct rhythms, one on each side of the record. A highly recommended pressing right here!

Like most producers out there, Barac returned to his Bandcamp page during the lockdown, presenting new digital works among which we find “Mystical, for those who don’t understand magical”. Listen to this otherworldly journey on our exclusive premiere column:

As things slowly curl around “back to normal” and “who knows what’s going to happen next” in the music industry, Barac makes a few appearances here and there as a selector while announcing new works alongside r.hitect and Marina Verdi to arrive soon as well so stay tuned. Now, let’s dive into the wax and explore the sounds!

Side A of the record features “Different Point Of Structure”, a steady-paced, laid-back piece flavoured with warm pads and textures, progressive arrangements and airy reverberations. The immersive atmosphere reveals a dreamy narrative, maybe a bit melancholic yet still engaging and hypnotic. Side B delivers “The First Thing You Hear”, a clockwork-like composition that rotates with an entrancing effect. The minimalistic percussion and fluttery insertions do have a tribalistic aroma while the overall uplifting swing of the track seems unstoppable. We’ll definitely hear this one on many dancefloors after its release, which is scheduled for mid-November.
