feeder sound exclusive premiere: Empat – Wild & Free [Leftback Intercities]
UK-based Leftback Records returns to their Intercities digital series with an amazing release signed by local artist Andrei Marcel aka Empat. Titled “Reflections EP”, the material offers four fresh tracks designed with intricate stripped-back rhythms and complex sound narratives. This collaboration follows the artist’s submissions to our feeder sound Open Call for producers where label-head Dudley Strangeways was a part of the jury and noticed the fact that this sound perfectly matches the imprint’s musical direction.
Empat was born in Bucharest and spent his formative years blending hip-hop with electronics, eventually leading to his unconventional, experimental approach to music production. His releases have since appeared on Tzinah, Vivus, Verbreiten, Kootz, Minimadelic, Simple Things, Tupiar, Baile Musik and Frucht, aside from his independent uploads on Bandcamp. As a selector, he shared the decks with artists like Trik, Metafore, Deez, Marinov and others.
💥 Let’s get groovy with “Wild & Free” exclusively on feeder sound:
The track features a funky swinging vibe emphasised by the vocal samples which elegantly blend with the bass-heavy minimal arrangements and carefully crafted breakdowns. The steady-paced percussive patterns sweep through the frequencies with style bringing forward a solid piece, perfect for the dancefloor. The other cuts roll from deep afterparty grooves to discerning peak-time rhythms, making this EP a must-have for minimal music lovers, DJs and collectors alike.
