TIJN, Dudley Strangeways – CVS003 [Curtea Veche]
UK-based imprint Curtea Veche returns to its special series with a three-tracker dropped by TIJN in collaboration with Leftback’s Dudley Strangeways, to which a remix by Argentinian artist Franco Cinelli is added to spice things up. With the previous two releases in the series signed by Percunta and TSN, this third pressing simply titled CVS003 after its catalogue number surely delivers a solid minimal sound, perfect for any kind of dancefloor. The 12” arrives in a limited number of copies on transparent vinyl.
Since 2014, Curtea Veche has been an international beacon for quality electronic music, publishing numerous amazing materials from artists like Kirik, Herck, Sepp, Dragosh, Guy From Downstairs, Silat Beksi, Daniel Broesecke, Tulbure, Nu Zau, Einzelkind and Giuliano Lomonte, among others. Last year, TIJN dispatched “The Nip EP” with the label while for this wax he teams up with Dudley Strangeways, who’s been really active lately, dropping fresh cuts on Leftback and hosting the Internal Connections live streaming events alongside our crew. Let’s spin this EP and explore the tracks in more detail!
Side A opens with “Askew” a thumping stripped-down rhythm that sure has a swinging vibration embedded into it that sweeps through the frequencies with style, while A2, “Juniper”, goes full funky and rolls with an uplifting drumming pattern to which solid wobbling basslines are added, as well as numerous micropatterns.
The B-Side is reserved for Franco Cinelli‘s re-interpretation of A1, which takes the tempo to a higher output while it focuses on subtle changes to the original layers. A perfect tool for uplifting selections right here and a very intriguing collaborative project, make no mistake!
