Unknown – OUVERT005 [Ouvert]

After the forth pressing was dispatched early in March and quickly ran out of stock, the mysterious record label Ouvert returns with the fifth title in its catalogue, a three-tracker that remains untitled just like the previous releases. Administrated by Bronxy, the imprint managed to capture the attention of many names in the scene, enjoying international support while the producers remain Unknown. In this way, the accent falls on the music and the way it can make you feel when you dance on it.

From intricate minimal techno to driving microhouse rhythms, Ouvert stood out since the beginning as the concept behind the whole journey is carefully put together. It is possible that the artworks (which portray recognizable architectural landmarks) point out to the place of origin of the artists behind the records, but the rhythms are the ones who get heard on the dancefloors. And that’s what we’re going to focus on as well. Dive in!

Side A reveals a solid minimalistic composition built with a wobbling bassline, steady-paced percussion sequences and eerie effects. The rotating layers create a hypnotic effect while the short breakdowns build enough tension for variations to emerge and start spinning around the core elements.

Side B opens with a slightly uplifting vibe that sends resonant electric synth stabs through the speakers along with a melodic background pattern that has a distinct swing embedded into it. Closing the wax, B2 unleashes a fully reverberated rhythm designed with a prominent bassline and a darker atmosphere. The presence of heavily modulated vocal cuts infuses the piece with a gloomy sensation, taking the listener into an abstract sound dimension perfect for a mind drift.
