r.hitect, Barac – Immersion EP [r.hitect]
Local producer r.hitect returns to his label with the fifth pressing in the catalogue, a three-tracker titled “Immersion EP” which also includes a collaboration with Barac. The two artists have previously worked on r.hitect’s debut EP as well as on Moment Records’ latest releases. Just like we’re accustomed to, the material offers an organic minimal sound and arrives in a limited number of copies along with the announcement that there will be no repress.
Since 2018 when the project first appeared, r.hitect made sure that his productions deliver a distinct sound, an elegant blend of minimal rhythms, progressive arrangements and colourful background textures. His tracks enjoyed support from many DJs in the international scene, as their intricate narratives can spice up any selection with ease. RCT005 makes no exception, as the wax provides a deeply resonant vibe perfect for both peak time moments and the afterhours, while Barac‘s presence is definitely welcomed and highly enjoyable.
Side A features the title track “Immersion”, a dreamy composition built with warm pads and effects, a prominent wobbling bassline and steady-paced percussive arrangements set at around 125 BPM. The breakdowns are etheric and spacious, leaving room for the background to evolve and breathe while some of the layers will slowly come in and out of focus as the drumming resumes.
On Side B we find “Zero Gravity”, an equally pleasant ride beyond the realms of minimal, where electric phased synth patterns permeate with a solid reverberation through all the elements and “Confluence”, a funky and driving rhythm that marks yet another great collaboration between the two artists. A highly collectable record right here!
