Cosmjn – Originality [Sono Unica]

With “Soul Things LP” recently dropped on Playedby along with several tracks on Bandcamp, local artist Cosmjn returns with another amazing material titled “Originality”. The wax features three fresh cuts designed with engaging rhythms and textures and marks the second release in Sono Unica‘s catalogue after the first pressing was introduced last year with Costin Rp behind the production of “Gemini EP”.

The Stockholm-based imprint was a bi-weekly podcast platform until the summer of 2013 when the first showcase event organised by the team took place and everything changed. Succesful and focused on combining quality electronic music with proper locations for unique parties to happen, Sono Unica steadily grew and hosted numerous events so operating a record label came as a natural step in their adventure. The collaboration with Cosmjn is outstanding and adds yet another great title in the artist’s discographic history which includes publishers like Subtil, RORA, Naural, Hoxton, UVAR, AtipicLab, Eastenderz, Botanic Minds and others.

On Side A we find the title track “Originality” a driving stellar composition that flows with a dynamic narrative which gets boosted by spacious breakdowns, reverberating effects and mysterious vocal samples which you’ll surely recognize and let their message guide your body movements.

On the flipside, “Absolute” kicks in with a solid minimal vibration, evolving into a pure dancefloor weapon. The wobbling bassline and the swinging drumming patterns (especially the finger-snapping sequences) provide a perfect balance for the other micro-modulations and sharp textures that rotate around the core layers. Closing the record, “Preamps” unleashes a very seductive garage-oriented groove, flavoured with a resonating bassline and bright background soundscapes which offer a blissful journey from the first second to the last.
