Aron – DINGHY001 [Dinghy]

Switzerland-based DJ and producer Aron delivers a steaming four-tracker through his own freshly founded imprint Dinghy. Designed with deep minimalistic patterns and rhythms, the pressing is titled after its catalogue number and already enjoys support from artists like Barac, Malin Genie, Janeret, The Mountain People, Alci and Romar.

Aron is well-known for his monthly residency at the Hidden Club in the city of Solothurn for quite some time now as well as for the releases he had in the past with Bleu Ciel, RDV Music, Melisma and Aku, a sublabel of Yoyaku. His sound incorporates various shades of house, techno and minimal music, with his productions or selections always delivering immersive and engaging vibrations at the same time. He found his passion for underground club culture and electronic music about ten years ago and since then he constantly collected vinyl, improved his techniques in the art of mixing and, explored the production process in great detail. Founding his own label came as a natural step in his career and DINGHY001 is just the beginning.

Side A opens with “Jerboa”, revealing a spacious stripped-back composition that focuses on its wobbling bassline and percussive effects. The arrangement includes swirling background pads and chopped vocals that add an alluring vibe to the whole, making this piece perfect for the afterhours. Following, “Cardio” delivers a more energetic rhythm infused with numerous micropatterns and heavily modulated voices. The steady-paced drumming displays a subtle crepuscular feeling while the breakdowns help with building tension and elegantly balance the track.

On the flipside we first find “Deviant”, an uplifting groove designed with deep melodies, filtered guitar layers and melancholic textures. The percussion is more dynamic here and the solid bassline leads the core elements into vivid daydreams. Closing the wax there’s “Ann And The Elephants”, a warm ambient take characterised by lively atmospheric synth work and introspective sounds.
