Ruggiero – Wired

Track description: There are these rare moments when musicians together touch something sweeter than they’ve ever found before in rehearsals or performance, beyond the merely collaborative or technically proficient, when their expression becomes as easy and graceful as friendship or love. This is when they give us a glimpse of what we might be, of our best selves, and of an impossible world in which you give everything you have to others, but lose nothing of yourself.

Orlesko – Porcupines On Different Levels (Féltestvér Spoken Original Mix)

Track description: Travelling beyond our macroscopic backyard of creature comforts… observing the micro… noticing the climate… globally… taking in to account the sphere of function… higher worlds… the underworld… every organism within the instinctual flow… chaos leading a certain path… order fleeting but, present like a butterfly in the forest. How do we make sense of it all?

Acoustic Cello Performed by Féltestvér for tracks 01 & 02 and the Voice of Richard Rohr Spoken for Track 01. All Tracks Arranged, Written and Produced by Orlesko. Mastered at Audio Department | Nik Kozub (Edmonton, Canada).

About Orlesko
Artist biography: Buying a set of decks in 2003, to playing gigs in Western Canada in 2006, Orlesko was keen for underground dance music. The musical landscape was changing from proper banging techno to more minimal, reduced frequencies and by 2010, his niche was developed. The same year, working in Alberta’s renowned record shop, Treehouse Records, helped mould his understanding of the widespread electronic music globally. He has played in Amsterdam, North and South Germany, across Western Canada and venturing into the Black Rock City. Orlesko’s upcoming gigs will take him to Adelaide and Brisbane, Australia.
Having released independent music on Bandcamp, a cassette single compilation on the new Canadian prairie label DancingOasis is floating around the globe and currently three EP’s digitally released on the label VRNT, Orlesko continues to pursue house and techno in all its forms. Expect an array of originals and vinyl bombs on the dancefloor. Stripped-back magic music. Atmosphere for those late-night boogies to keep you moving!

“Clubbers fall into the channel of sonic bliss as the frequencies touch them. The aim is to experience the love of rhythm, whether you stand with your eyes closed or manoeuvre to the next kick drum; when the night is in full swing we connect with the atmosphere provided by the DJ.” – Orlesko

Step by step with much patience and discipline has managed to enter more than 100 underground music labels, being increasingly close to being someone important in his genre. Jules Magois – Light And Noise

Track description: This track has a rather hypnotic and meditative mood. The main elements are a voice sample, a rhythmic Epiano, a pad, and some violins (the violin melody has been made by myself using a Kontakt soundfont). Then I added various rhythmic elements and effects. I recorded myself jamming, so as to convey a more fluid and surprising feel. The track can be downloaded from its soundcloud webpage.

Siff – Komma

Track description: The track starts with a tribal percussion, electric sounds and punchy kicks, continuing with some weird guitar tunes, the ambience is a weird one that takes you to a dark club where everyone dances in the same robotic rhythm. The glitches make you jump from your chair (we’re in isolation so nobody dances in clubs). The big break in the track is characterized by spooky sounds and weird voices. When the tracks approach the end, the rhythm changes, with an “acid” like synth that is slowly panning between the listener’s ears.

About Siff
Artist biography: Started making music in 2015, released the first track called “Tooly” at Recordeep. Played music in Denmark and Bucharest. Fascinated by abstracted, glitched, dark and groovy sounds. I don’t have a favourite producer but I will say that I was influenced by Amin Ravelle, Mihigh, Niwa Tatsui, Cezar, Dubtil, Crihan and Julian.

He Did – Santo (Matje Remix)

Track description: A remix I recently made for a friend’s imprint in Chile. I would describe it as the perfect party starter. Warm, groovy bass with quirky percussion featuring a Buchla melodic modular sequence to set off the journey.

About Matje
Artist biography: Emerging into the musical realms as a self-taught guitarist, Matje has developed his passion for electronic music back in 2008 when he starting spinning as a resident in a local club, initially mixing various genres of house music and then focusing more on the minimal sound. Throughout his musical affair, he warms up the crowd for Nu Zau & Dubsons in 2014. Without any second thought, he starts producing in 2015 and releases his first EP in digital format on 9.05.2017 at [brosh] records, followed by his second VINYL ONLY EP on 15.08.2019 at Otaku Records which is out on deejay.de and other main distributors (www.deejay.de/Matje_OTK006_OTK006_Vinyl__934110), with early support from Cezar, Dubtil, Priku + many more.

He becomes an international artist after performing in Belgium for the first time, in 2016. Then he becomes a London based artist with an impressive portfolio and an immersive and distinctive sound. Together with some friends, he starts his own label “Equinox” in order to create a cutting edge platform for releasing both dancefloor-oriented tracks and also ambient soundscapes for like-minded individuals to collectively enjoy!

Mryn – Masses

Track description: Masses is a track I made in several different sessions, spread over a month. Usually, I’m making tracks in one or two sessions so this one was particular, I paid a lot of attention to the grooviness of the track. The result is a rather short journey, club-oriented with breaks and soft drops, swirling percs and pads, I’m not too sure what the title is about, that’s up to you.

About Mryn
Artist biography: Passionate about minimal for several years after making his way into techno and house, Mryn delivers an unpredictable and harmonious journey.
His style, influenced by the ro-minimal and early tech-house scene, can be bright and catchy or sometimes dark and hypnotizing. The multiple rhythmic layers that make up his groove bring his audience into an irresistible odyssey that never sleeps.

Gronny – Ricardo Villalobos remontiruet avtobus

Track description: A Tibetan singing bowl washed out by reverb and passed through a sampler in Ableton sets the atmosphere of a car workshop. The sound of a falling coin processed by a panorama and a certain equalization creates an image of a falling metal product during repair. Almost the entire rhythm section is recorded in live mode to create colour.

Stefano Glisci – Scenario

Track description: Scenario is a very old project that after many years of revisitation finally came to life. The track has a really deep vibe with a soul style voice that leads the entire track. The main concept was to merge the soul style from the 50s and 60s with electronic sounds creating a new groove.

About Stefano Glisci
Artist biography: My name is Stefano Glisci I was born in 1996 and I am originally from the South of Italy. During the past years, I moved to Bucharest where I am currently living and studying.

SOMA – Bondi Night Waves

Track description: Inspired by the endless flow, energy and breaking of the waves, SOMA uses this lapping of the waves at Bondi at Night as the inspiration for this Track. Using field recordings taken at Ben Buckler at Dusk, the wash of the pads reflect the waves, the grimey overdriven nature of the leads are the salt in the air and on your face with synth stabs the flickering lights that emerge as dusk falls.

About SOMA
Artist biography: Sydney born and internationally raised, SOMA soaks up a diverse array of influences and channels them into his infectiously creative output. The result is a complex, duby, deep and spacious house driven sound that ventures and evolves through a euphoric soundscape.

Alpha Bite – David And Goliath

Track description:I always wanted to create a moment where you can think and dance at the same time, a moment where the rhythm from the drums and ambience are in balance with each other. In other words, listening to the track after finishing producing it I realized that this was it. This was the perfect match, this was what I was contemplating and trying to reinvent. Jamming with modular gear it’s vital in cases where I have to submit the ideas that I want to create. Repeating the process and learning by doing, in order to create something different. The target it’s to have the right focus at the right time while you record I guess it’s more robotic…

The name David and Goliath came from a feeling that you get being an underdog, a contest where a smaller, weaker opponent faces a much bigger, stronger adversary. The name is meant to come as a reminder especially in times like these! I guess it is easy to feel overwhelmed and it’s alright. History showed us many times how we can find ourselves in our weakest moments and push forward. The story’s aim is that not all day time the thing that seems the strongest will survive. Music is a tool that is to help our mood and boost our dopamine in order to stay proactive and positive but because of capitalism is often overlooked. We should never lose hope. So, be like David. We all are David.

Alpha Bite
Artist biography: Alpha Bite is a producer/dj & performer, with a focus towards minimal. The project was started in 2001. Alpha Bite’s debut was trippy, glitchy downtempo with Aura, a digital album released on Bandcamp in 2011. In this period he had a lot of appearances in the clubs and festivals from Romania.
From 2012 he joined the danish realms by moving to Copenhagen. A brief collaboration with the Berlin-based label Collage Audio where he dropped his digital Ep: Between Dimensions.
The concept is always developing as a chameleonic skin but keeping true to the core of weirdness, channelling now a pinch of house all the way to techno.

Techniscje Loef – Black Soul You (Parea Remix)

Track description: Last February my mate Techniscje Loef proposed me to do a remix for his track. The track consisted of a lovely atmosphere created with a delayed rhodes and a piano as well as 909-ish drums, and some other conga-electronic percussion in the background. He sent me the audio files with the main piano parts and some background percussion and gave me total freedom to create whatever I had in mind.

For my remix, I wanted to do something more “soft” compared to his track but keeping the vibe from the original since I already liked it. Something more like an after-party track or for some intimate club. I made a new arrangement with a longer intro using the delay tail coming from the rhodes to create a sort of tremolo-pulse effect and in order to make it easier for djs to mix in the track. Used some of the original main percussion to keep the vibe, however, I created a completely new drum kit with the addition of more hats and synth-made percussion. The track has also an “interesting” change in the kick pattern after the longest break. I added a completely new bass using Ableton Operator’s FM synthesis capability, that might be simple, but I think that all in all, it works well 🙂

About Parea
About yourself: I am Marc from Barcelona. I started djing when I was 15 and I have played under my real name and other aliases since then. Around two years ago, I decided to start a new project under the alias Parea, which is more focused on tech-house and minimal.

Artist biography: Dj, producer and one of Barcelona’s rising artists yet to get discovered. However, Parea is no stranger to the local clubbing scene. He has played in some of the most known venues in the city such as Elrow, City Hall or Casa Gracia.

He started mixing while still a teenager and since then he has grown and matured his sound both as a producer and a dj. His sound can be defined as minimal-house, but it’s more than that often moving between different subgenres of house and techno.

Best known for keeping the party going on for long hours, Parea has proven his creativity not only behind the decks but also as a producer. His first release on Bandcamp has received good feedback and support. He published podcasts on Tanzgemeinschaft Magazine, Grainy Unknown Artist series, Sonica.es and Pineal Barcelona.

Siff – A worm’s astral projection

Track description: A complex one, it took me one week from start to finish. It starts off with my signature glitchy percussions, slowly working towards an electric ride full of mystic sounds, groovy basses, a voice that accompanies the textures and reversed one-shots. It gets more and more aggressive towards the end when another hat makes it more dancy. Overall, this track represents me and my style of producing music.

Kazan  – Turia (Break’n Dub Edit)

Track description: This track reflects breakbeat rhythms making the snare the main element, the kick remains deep in the first part of the pattern to make the other sounds cohesive with the snare. The texture is created with a deep reverberation of glitch sounds and various drums elaborated in a dub style.

Marseeey – Tension

Track description: A track with a strong beat made with samples from Moog and Serum with the care of the quality.

About Marseeey
Artist biography: Moscow-based techno/tech-house DJ Marseeey is involved in music for more than a decade: his first experience with music production is dated 2002. In 2011 young artist tried himself as a DJ and stood in front decks — and since then Marseeey has been playing at underground parties, always delivering top-notch music taste and impeccable insights on how electronic music should sound like. A short time after it brought him to residency in a small DJ cafe Mojo (Suzuran) right in the heart of Moscow: his artistic vision and deep knowledge of current music trends encouraged respect from famous veterans of Moscow club scene.

Speaking of his own strong advantages, Ilia prior names music taste and attention to the tiniest nuances of music: during preparation for a new set, Ilia can spend hours digging vinyl crates or lurking beatport catalogues, listening to thousands of tracks before he finally finds the one that he needs. “Right now in the world there are a great number of talented musicians: that’s why one of the most important parts of being a DJ is to reveal hidden gems among enormous massive of decent music” — says Ilia. — “I often consider electronic musicians as modern-day geniuses. You can’t produce masterpieces on an assembly line: they are rare, practically solitary phenomena. And every single one of them deserves to be heard”.

The splendid music taste of Marseeey brought him to legendary global DJ contest Burn Residency in 2016. From that time he is AlfaFuturePeople music festival resident from Burn Energy.

Antoine – Mechanics Of A Train

Track description: I started jamming on the drum machines, I came up with a nice techno rhythm that reminded me of the sound a train makes when it operates. I then decided to name the track “Mechanics of a Train”, and I slowly slowly refined the tracks bit by bit to give it that stripped back a micro touch, I incorporated my own vocal sample, and used some guitar stabs from my friend Rick. My intention was to create a track that provided a feeling of how a train operates, and the journey it rides on, with new sounds that enter the track as it progresses. But also trying to maintain a raw and vintage analogue sound that is unique and stretches the minimal barrier.

Kazan  – Ioria

Track description: Ioria represents for me the meeting point of various aspects of the electronic genre. It is based on a kick and a purely analogue-style bass that recall the techno variations of the early ’90s, completed by a more modern rhythm of drums, which recalls minimal sounds. The texture is made up of various glitch sounds that give fullness and depth, underlining the combination of a minimal Berlin-style as opposed to that hint of analogue techno. The choice of the “celestial” pad is the meeting point between the glitch part, the drums and the analogue sounds which raises monotony to the glitch sounds giving depth to the texture itself.

About Kazan
Artist biography: “Kazan” is an Italian electronic music composer from the province of Latina, in Italy. Influenced from a young age in the various trend events of both Italian and European nightlife, he decided to experiment with his own musical production with minimalistic background sounds ranging from the Glitch-House to the Romanian Techno. Resident in the “Re-Born” events together with Velardi in his own province and guest in the “No-One” events on the summer evenings of Pescara (IT). In each of his sets, Dub sounds are perceived among all the facets ranging from Minimal-Techno to Micro-House, seeking in his sound to be part of the Italian underground scene.

Cr15tina – Tralala (In Padurea Cu Alune)

Track description: I didn’t plan to put this very happy children’s song in the song. Towards the end, I found the song and I realized that it fits very well with the melodic line, that I created.

About Cr15tina
About yourself: “Hello everyone. I am glad that I have the opportunity to share with you, the same feelings full of love, towards music!
My name is Filip Cristina, I was born on the Black Sea and I come from the resort 2 Mai.
As a child I had musical skills, I sang, I danced and I was attracted from an early age by the secrets of mixing. For several years I have been doing production, but I still have a lot to learn and I want to improve every day. Music for me, that’s all! Love, Passion, Devotion, Patience, Creation, Energy, Light, Knowledge, for me and for the people I interact with, through her prism and not only! Music has transformed me into what I am now. A human who wants to share as much positive vibration and peace as possible, to create a more beautiful world with you!”

Artist biography: Hailing from the capital of Romania, Bucharest, Cristina was born near the Black Sea shore in the holiday spot 2Mai, on April 19, 1987. She has lived into a childhood and adolescence of electronic music, as her father was an avid vinyl collector with an affection for electronica.

At the tender age of 14 was the first time she stood behind the decks, learning the techniques and crafting her DJ skills, and shortly after she began playing at local summer club. Prompted by her interest in electronic music and restless creative spirit Cristina also attended and completed a singing school.

In 2006 she moved to Bucharest getting involved in the Romanian capital’s underground party scene. She got to play her first gig at the Zebra club in Bacau, where many artists who left their mark in the Romanian underground scene have originated and made their stamp. For the next decade, she was a regular at many of Bucharest’s underground spots and became the resident of Silver after-hours club.

After a short hiatus, Cr15tina remerged back into the scene, this time with an interest for producing and creating her own sounds, marked by strong feeling, and emotion.

Her first EP, “Zbor Maiastru”(2016), was released by the label Arms Limited, followed by “Love Dimension” E.P (2017) released by the label Cisne Negro, and then her single for Rooftop Cardigans Sampler V.A. “Nu Zaietz Pagadi” (2017).

Since 2017 she has joined forces with HighSound.Ro collective, an agency that promotes underground Romanian DJ’s, artists and music producers.

Nick Neiman – Upgrade

Track description: Firstly, in this track, we can feel a cyberpunk atmosphere by deep low bass and deepest house pad. Cyberpunk’s not about destroyed infrastructure or surreal technologies, it’s about harmony old with fresh, several eras coexisting at once and more transcendent and super simple technologies than we could imagine. Today it’s not future, it’s that where we live. Finally, we see a simple and balanced texture of samples like drums, percussions and etc. which harmonize with all main sounds and bring more feeling from the track.

About Nick Neiman
About yourself: I’m a musician and dj from Ukraine. I started DJ’ing 5 years ago. The first dj experience was a performance in the nightclub “Podium”, then I started to play with famous promo group in Poltava named “WAVE” and also playing in some local clubs. For the last time, I like the micro house, deep tech, minimal genres and now I’m playing sometimes on local private parties or parties organized by my friends. I love vinyl.
I’m making music in Ableton Live, but my previous experience was using the Fl Studio.

Artist biography: When I don’t hear anything in my head except music or sounds, I record it on my laptop. Over the past 5 years, my musical perception has undergone a lot of changes, but now it focuses on deep sounds, minimalism and organics. Let’s see what happens.

Widovski – From Motion To Ocean

Track description: It’s about a moment… a moment so intense that one second and you had the illusion that it was a lifetime. That a moment ago you were in your bed, thinking. You blink for an eye and you awake yourself just to see the ocean in front of yourself.
The simple beginning of the track is the base on which the inner reflection starts. The uplifting and playful chords that start to assemble creates an atmospherical environment in which one can transcend from here to there, from now to then in a blink of an eye.
The sparkly bubbles that arrive at some points remind you of the magic and the fragility of a moment, just like a balloon. A sensible floating object that can be broken even by the wind.

About Widovski
Artist biography: Widovski is a name that was built in time, slowly but surely. It’s an entity, an idea that I want to express music through (and soon through other different art forms). I started creating and expanding more thoroughly about 4 years ago when everything around didn’t quite have a sense of reality and decided that my purpose as an artist was to change that. My goal is to bring a sense of something to everyone, It might not be needed now, but it will surely be needed tomorrow.

Widovski – Frame Collision

Track description: The bouncy playfulness and the unquestionable calling into the game hides a little more than that… It’s about that feeling when you think you have the world on your pinky. About that moment when you’re sitting on the peak of the highest mountain, on one foot, maintain your balance over the entire world.
It’s about that moment when you think you know everything but you know nothing. When being yourself and enjoying that little moment of happiness is everything you could’ve wanted.

Widovski – Mazer

Track description: Weird, stubborn and unbreakable. That’s how it is. You’ll be enjoying simple sounds that arrange themselves in an unnatural build-up until the intimidating voice and weird glitchy chords pop in and diffuse the reality in which you are listening to it.
That’s its purpose. Decomposing one’s idea of reality and reshaping it through the glitch infused sounds in a more wild and unnatural approach. In my opinion, the only resemblance for this track is The Great Wave of Kanagawa. An unstoppable wave that captures everyone, everything and doesn’t let anybody behind.

Arthus – Endz Tomorrow (Original Mix)

Track description: This track has a lot of feeling and I tried to print to the maximum what was felt at that moment, a track with a very strong emotional power, I discovered that I would be a father so I dedicated all my love in this song I tried to print my identity to the maximum and something I want to follow in my productions I had good feedback and I believe that the track has great potential, as it can be played at various times during the party.

Kick a little fat but very reminiscent of the 909, some modular in the same tone of the main Rhodes, a cut of vocal along with a HAT, bassline combined a lot with “TOM” and Kick I love working in this way.

GUSH – a Droga song for mAr1 (Katz chakra venus)

Track description: Being that on the 27th venus was the brightest this year I think 🙂 and my girlfriend paints the cat from “curaj cainele fricos” (n.e.: courage the cowardly dog) and I started 2 days ago with the Katz theme, but I could get only a snare, and a hat, too much noise, and I stumbled upon some samples :)) just yesterday and added the voices :)) it doesn’t have so much bass :)) I can’t get the handle of bass :))… I don’t know why hope you like it :)) I don’t really intend to win :)) it’s sort of like an experiment :)) I could’ve made a better one, but I just woke up that the call is only 2 days away 🙂

sHotzi – There is still Light in these Dark Roots

Track description: Hard times. Isolation. The State of Introspection.
Nowhere. Nature.
“There is still Light in these Dark Roots” sets a meditative atmosphere with an ensemble of chords and percussions.
A rageous bassline follows, pouring a darker touch to the main mix which is then illuminated by a mysterious chant…
This track is about finding the inner light elevating us, in this world where many dark seeds have been planted and keep us grounded in confusion.

About sHotzi
Artist biography: Stefan Puscasu aka Shotzi has been playing the guitar and drumming in his teenage period and joined the electronic music scene in 2016.
Starting first as a convicted digger and then as a co-founder of the Romanian minimal promoter Storytellers, he taught himself how to merge and mix tracks quickly and started performing in places such as Switzerland, France or Romania.
His sets can be very diverse going from full abstract minimalist to more house-infused, powerful or breaky.
At the moment, Shotzi is working on his own musical productions, taking influences from rock/metal, hip hop, jazz, disco-funk or even ambiental meditation music.

Svetlin – A1. Liric [Pana La Fund EP]

Track description: I don’t make music because I need to evolve as an artist. I just gather emotions from the things that happen around me and put them on paper, like poems. Then I start to compose ambiental sounds and so on. That’s how Pana La Fund was made, after 2 years of bipolar depression, fake people around me, I felt that I’ve hit the bottom (that’s where the name came from). Pictures represent the journey I took to hit that place. To be honest, I don’t even know if it fits “microhouse” but, that’s just how I think it is.

About Svetlin – BucharestUndergroundNight (personal music project/label/event organizer)
About yourself: I don’t follow trends or anything. Music came to me since I was 7 almost, like an instinct. I was ok listening to happy tunes, but almost anytime I got in love with the dark and sad ones. It’s a passion, not a lifestyle. I don’t see myself playing in clubs for a living, but I like to deliver something more, which can’t be described with words sometimes, and that’s my way of saying it.

Artist biography: I don’t believe in fancy descriptions either. Good music is good music, a bad one is a bad one and so on. I like to deliver people a good story, and if it’s not good, at least it’s my story. That’s how I would describe myself and my B.U.N (BucharestUndergroundNight)

Artro – Simbolismo (LuckyStrike voz)

Track description: This is a physical expression of hardware and was recorded at the studio using a friend’s voice. Organic rhythms with thinner, minimal elements such as hi-hats and claps fuse with thick bass to create a contrast of nice, welcoming breaks. Waves of sound and elements fly together with subtle harmonies and darkened warmth.

About Artro
Artist biography: Born in San José, Costa Rica. Artro has been involved in sound for almost 20 years now. As a drummer, Djing and producing his own sounds and field recordings for different purposes, Artro has been dedicating his time and energy to different forms of art. Based in Costa Rica he works in his studio named Trial Und Error and travels around the globe with different approaches to sound that go from Ambient, breaks, micro, minimal, house, electro, dub, techno, acid, IDM to name some examples. He’s been releasing music since 2012 and is part of Half Seas Over family in San José, Costa Rica.

Artro has different variations to sound when curating events, it depends on the concept, whom he plays with, the people and the place. His music is a passage through different emotions and experiences from every now and then. It has textures full of life and patterns that connect everything, organicity and constant elements that feel as currents of rhythm. All this treated with a fine selection of hand-picked records and digital released and unreleased music from friends and himself. Artro has also been experimenting with a live audiovisual performance. Music and his vibe have taken him to cure events, festivals, radio and more in places like Nicaragua, Honduras, Beijing, New York, Panamá, Chengdu, Qingdaoh, Honduras, El Salvador, Houston and all around Costa Rica to name some places.

Artro – Karma

Track description: As it sounds, so it feels. This track has a linear structure with hypnotic rhythms of elements such as hi-hats playing sharp and bright sounds, while underwater melodies provoke feelings of a rainy day. All this, while different bass line structures work to bring an acid-like synth-funk that leads the way.

Terry Benedikt – Losing Control

Track description: This track is very close to my heart. It was not a very conscious process of composing it, things just unfolded and I let them be. All I knew was that I wanted it to sound original. The sketch of it was made during a spontaneous all-night session when I couldn’t sleep, sometime in February 2020 in Berlin. Losing Control aims to embody how life can be lived by most of us in these daring capitalist times, always at the edge of getting your shit together.
Control can take many forms. The losing of it as well. Losing control of awareness, losing control of patience, love, peace, order, you name it. I wanted to convey a feeling of selflessness which is then relieved towards the end of the track with hopeful warm pads, which make the losing of control feel almost pleasurable. Because consciously losing control can also be a very good thing indeed.
I tried to keep the percussions very raw and edgy to underline the roughness of control being lost. Friends told me that the lead synth, in the beginning, sounds like a Super Mario game. Hadn’t thought of it but now I can’t get this picture out of my head anymore. Unlike many of my previous tracks, this one still makes me happy after listening to it more than 100+ times. Therefore, I chose to submit it for the open call and I hope it triggers something in you too.

About Terry Benedikt
About yourself: Hi, I’m Ben Flock aka Terry Benedikt, because my real name is already kind of taken by another prolific DJ. I’m into music since the start of my infant memories and into DJing for 6 years. Two years ago, I started making music myself and I’m starting to be more confident with the results. I contributed to your podcast series with jukebox #19 last year, thanks again for the opportunity. This open call gave me the incentive to actually FINISH a project with a deadline, I’m sure you can relate. Everything is music, music is everything. Hope you enjoy xx

Artist biography: After diving into the electronic music scene in Barcelona with the Kommuna crew, Terry now returned back to his hometown Berlin with the ambition to perfect the crafts of DJing, composition and event curation. Being part of the Love Foundation network taught him how to bring like-minded people together to acknowledge the importance of music in life. Recently he co-founded the Berlin-based event series Orbiting Souls next to his dear friend zodya, which aspires to become a music label and multidisciplinary platform in the very near future. Other interesting projects, such as the launch of a new festival in Poland, are in the pipeline and will be shared very soon.

Constand – Focus

About the track: A breakbeat track with glitchy sounds and a rolling bassline
Track description: It originally started as a four-on-the-floor track, but after adding some sound, I’ve thought about trying to make it breakbeat, I made a pattern on my drum machine and it worked! After that, I made a deep rolling bassline to add power and drive to the track.

MNDLA – Dystopia

Track description: So here’s a track called ‘Dystopia’ which means an undesirable future or possibility of a post-apocalyptic future. Nothing is ever set in stone and humankind can change, find one’s soul and change the destiny of our planet. These visions can be discovered through spiritual healing plants. It’s such a profound experience that it makes people change instantly.

With this track, I wanted to create something special which felt like you’re going through space & time. A sound that had lots of emotion especially with what’s going on today. At the beginning, it feels like no hope for the future with synth sounds that cry with emotion using lots of automation, minimal drums, deep bass/sub groove. 3 minutes in the melody comes in and just raises the vibration of the whole track. It gave the track some sense of hope with birds chirping before the drop & with a little spiritual vibe to the track.

I’ve been inspired by so many genres could be a good thing or a curse but I wanted to push myself and make something new, different and forward-thinking. I created all the sounds from scratch, I rarely use presets. I wanted to create a sense of space, dynamics and use the stereo field as best of my ability.

About MNDLA
Artist biography: I’ve been making/producing all my life off & on but only really started taking it seriously in the last 2 years. I’ve spent my entire existence day & night trying to master the craft. I was obsessed with underground music. I discovered music from Romania last summer when I started to get into vinyl. I think music is so forward-thinking and from the future. It made me re-think how music should be artistic but also inspired me to push harder with sounds and grooves.

All the hard work and rejections I’ve signed to 8 different dance labels since December 2019. Even though It’s happening for me and getting signed. I’m still not satisfied. I listen carefully to new records that inspire me. I work hard every day to improve, get better and take the risk on new sounds.

Välth – Just looking dumb

Track description: The main idea behind the track was to create a repetitive broken beat/ breakbeat pattern with a shuffle that maintains the groove through the whole track. The role of the bass besides to cover the lower frequencies is to take a function as an ambience generating instrument. Filling the holes in the soundscape through different field recordings and natural ambiences with effect modulations was always a big favourite of mine which can be heard in this track too. The constant evolving synths try to cover the listeners as a warm and safe blanket while the lead sound gives a new dimension to the track.

About Välth
Artist biography: Välth has got in touch with electronic music in 2012. The main focus then was on dubstep and drum and bass. Dj-ing and production came in 2014. Since then he has been crafting his skill in both of the fields. In the last six years, he was experimenting with different genres and styles, such as downtempo and ambient. After he discovered the microhouse and minimal sound, he decided to try to express his thoughts and feelings through “this kind of sound” but in his own way.
In his hometown, he organized parties under the name “Spannende Elektrik” with his friend. His first release came out on their label in 2019.

Ricardo Magallon – Solid Thought

About the track: A really spacey minimal techno sound with a variety of sounds.
Track description: It’s a track that came in inspiration to the Romanian minimal techno sounds that I’ve been intrigued by. It’s a story and analogy of dark thoughts and how to turn darkness into light, anxiety into calm, sadness into happiness and gratefulness. Sometimes dancing your problems away is the answer.

About Ricardo Magallon
A little about myself: My life is defined by music, I believe in the power of love and every day of my life I find a way to put it into sound to share with others. I love getting better every day on what I do and learning new things.

He began producing for fun at the age of 13 and DJing at the age of 15. Later on, he developed a taste in Indie Rock, Psychedelic Rock, Experimental Rock, Shoegaze, Dream Indie, etc.. which he started producing and playing. Grigor Kanev – Definition Off

Track description: The track represents various influences and still has its own character. Breaky beat with a bright baseline and combination of peculiar 808 and house motives and vocal from old movies creates the atmosphere of where a definition is not needed. The production level is not a master class but as my 3rd finished project, I am satisfied even though there is a lot of room for improvement.

About Grigor Kanev
About yourself: I am a 22 years old boy who’s a hobby is finding and playing music. It is still a hobby because I am currently doing my studies but once I finish I will try to make it as a full-time job. I like a lot of different genres of music so I try to not restrain myself.

Again a very versatile release with super cool sounding Detroit influence made in 1996.

Ricardo Magallon – Synchronicity

Track description: Synchronicity is the name of the track. It’s a minimal techy sound with sporadic percussion, conversations and moments lived within it.

It’s called like that because of a lot of experiences that happened to me one linked to the other, as crazy as it sounds from being crashed in Houston before coming to Miami to conversations I heard, girls I met, circumstances that happen. I don’t believe in coincidences, not even the fact that I’m sending a second, nor that you’re reading this.

Brad – Zipper the dog

Track description: This track I made was especially for this contest and because of that, I had an immense workflow helped by the deadline. I used sh-101, tanZbar, Yamaha psr 300, Moebius as pedal effector, one u-he vst, ableton effects and a genius Rode microphone, which I used it for many of the sounds in the track. Also, I named the track like this because I used a box for glasses with a zipper. I mastered the track before sending you guys, and the guy who did it made an immense job. Thank you for your support doing this contest.

About Brad
Artist biography: Coming from Brasov, a Transylvanian city surrounded by mountains and wild bears, Marian Ioan, under the DJ name Brad (meaning fir tree) is a true rhythm mixer who is bringing fairy tales to our ears.
He was first introduced to clubs and mixing from the age of 10 by his brother, a DJ himself from whom he appropriated his first skills. About 6 years later he had already discovered techno music and its sub-genres and started mixing in unconventional parties with the Dj’s Techno Conference label in Brasov. Around the year 2005, he became resident at a local club, followed by a residency in a lounge-bar, in both “playing” with all types of music but with a clear quest to master better his skills. He shifted completely in 2009 diving into psychedelic music for a journey of discovery that lasted 5 years, until his comeback to the first love: techno.
After his exploration of diverse frequencies, he managed to create a unique style, a blend of minimal and organic spaces, peaceful rhythms and warm harmonies that raise the collective consciousness.
Keep your ears and heart open!

Vot’e – Yet it is (pancakes?)

Track description: the track is part of an upcoming 12” release. The track is inspired by a realisation that change is happening in an understated yet powerful way. Society may be reverting to the ways of old, for better or worse and everyone is taking part, whether they know it or not. The wheel turns yet another time.

About Vot’e
Artist biography: Vot’e is a London based producer originally from Varna, Bulgaria. His style developed through a long involvement with classical and jazz music and a strong influence from minimalism, inspired by the music sheet and dance floors of the London scene alike.

The resulting sound combines sampled and synthesised elements with upbeat but involved chord progressions and purpose-made acoustic recordings. Sounds and release titles are carefully chosen to form a continuous narrative.

Jack Cheler – Sat

Track description: I do all my tracks based on Romania, this track was no different, some metallic sounds and noises, this track was made with a more ripped bass line, a little different from the ones we’ve been hearing around, I used a sequence of timbres talking with pads, chords and efx, with this I suggest this track Aldeia (Sat in Romanian).

Sandoo – Pull Soul

Track description: This song was made in the first weeks of home isolation when I was a bit stressed out and decided to take up producing more seriously. While practising some piano theory I discovered the notes for the bassline and the rest of the song was built around them. The end result, while not really dancefloor-oriented, manages to transmit a feeling of warm energy and hope to the listener. It’s something to listen to at sunrise, I think. The title should be translated word for word in Romanian in order to be better understood.

About Sandoo

Artist biography: I’m a 22-year-old music enthusiast from Romania. I discovered house and minimal during my bachelor years in Bucharest. Little by little, I grew to want to express myself through music too, while trying to find the sound that I like. I started DJing at friends’ parties at the end of 2018 and began producing a little while ago, as well.

Gjetson – Grains of sand

Track description:

About Gjetson
I always produced music (I think I was 12-13 years old when I saw an air djing for the first time, and since then I keep trying, I keep trying), I do not know, maybe for 1 year I played cs 1.6, except for this, only music.
I started Gjetson in October 2018 when I had to think through what I want to do with my life … to produce music :))
I have succeeded in finalizing songs, getting some wow, plums, to collaborate, to talk to people, all this is starting to be fun.

Sandoo – Camo Pop

Track description: In sharp contrast to the other track I sent, this one is a lot more rugged and suited to dancing. The slightly oriental bassline feels like an anchor for the whole song, while the percussion play and dissonant synths from the second half offered a chance to let loose and improvise your moves. The idea was inspired by works from Priku and Shonky.

Cosmic Clap – 107

Track description: The track is full of percussions and delays to get a trippy mood. The random glitchy voice adds some more pyschelism to it. The beats variate between breaky part for the groove and more powerful straight kicks. The synth adds some colours and rhythm to the beat. The pad coming at the end is adding a new mood to conclude on a more “flying” part.
