This Friday we bring you something special – a deep journey into the mysterious aspects of minimal music delivered by Gabrrye. Let the rhythm take over your body and remember that the best system is a soundsystem!
Gabrrye, or Beka Gabritchidze by his real name, is a DJ and producer based in Tbilisi, Georgia. His adventures in the world of music started a long time ago, earlier in his career being a member of several live bands where he played the drums and the bass guitar. In time he discovered the electronic rhythms and developed a strong attraction for house, techno and everything in between. In 2012 he started mixing and working on his own productions which have been published by labels like Quanticman, Diferit Limited, iTech Sound System, Rodark Records, Crossworlder Music, Purple Sun Records and Lethal Script.
His style incorporates elements from dub, ambient and the experimental aspects of electronic music which are carefully integrated into minimal, deep techno and tech-house soundscapes that transmit complex emotions and unique visions. Time to get groovy with his selection for our podcast series to better understand his point!
“I love the Romanian old sound and that’s why I used old tracks for this mix. The new sound from the Romanians is better in terms of quality but I like old blood more. They are playing more for the public today and that’s why sound has changed (not all artists). Romanian sound is always first to me and this set is big love to them what they are doing. There are some artists in this set who are not Romanians but closer with the sound.” – Gabrrye
feeder sound 262 mixed by Gabrrye was recorded on three decks and reveals an elegant vibe which encapsulates a specific and distinct sound. Flavoured with old-school minimal takes, the set brings forward engaging rhythms and textures which includes productions from artists like Mariano Mateljan, Triptil, Idri, Paparoiu Robert, Omul, Hansel, Grotesku and Yaroslav Lenzyak, with the last cut being a personal piece titled “Ego”. Enjoy!
