Glueped – Peren [Cinetic Art]
Cristi Tudorache aka Melodie and Mihai Mihalcea aka Teluric have been collaborating under the Glueped alias for quite some time now, combining both mystical harmonies and elemental grooves into one distinct sound. “Peren” is their third vinyl release after the project’s debut on Bleu Ciel with “Glues From The Toolbox EP” back in 2015 and “Destiny EP” published with Jay Bliss‘ Vade Mecum imprint in 2017. The 12” features four tracks that can take the listeners on celestial journeys and also make them feel rooted and present in this world while offering a glimpse of the forthcoming sound of Cinetic Art record label.
Both artists are well-known in the electronic music scene, having collaborated with top labels and performing at numerous parties and festivals. Among the publishers Melodie has worked with we find Metereze, Rora and Almanah, while Teluric dispatched his music through Polen, Cakeman Records, Rackmizar, Yoyaku and Eating Records. Recently, the duo also signed two remixes for JamRat’s “Marble Grounds” EP, brought forward by the American record label Rhizome.
Side A opens with “Dropsuri”, a playful and uplifting composition that exhibits an experimental approach to the minimal sound. The steady-paced percussion leads an ongoing stream of micropatterns while a modulated vocal cut adds a mysterious effect, creating an engaging flow. Following, “Minimachine” reveals a stripped-back rhythm flavoured with deep background pads that are carefully intertwined in order to provide a hypnotic feeling.
On Side B we first find “Ixi”, a dreamy cut designed with reverberated elements and warm textures. The drumming receives a more solid shape and the lively bassline becomes a leading layer for the arrangement. Closing the wax, “Midnight” displays wave after wave of deep resonant frequencies, rhythmic variations and delayed effects. With such a diverse sound to offer, the record can be played at peak moments at any party as well as at the afterhours.
