Aney F. – Time Existence [CUE]

The first vinyl release to arrive from Sven Jaeger‘s CUE imprint is delivered by Slovenian DJ and producer Aney F., well-known for his engaging releases and selections, as well as for running Innocent Music since 2012. Titled “Time Existence”, the 12” packs two original uplifting cuts, a remix signed by Italian duo Artslaves and a second one by the label head himself. Designed with an energetic combination of tech-house, deep tech and minimal rhythms, the wax represents another great achievement in the label’s history and evolution which includes collaborations with artists like Marc Faenger, Christian Burkhardt, CL-ljud, Dubphone, Nektar Agu, Fabian Weitz, Artur Nikolaev and Triad, among others.

Based in the capital city of Ljubljana, Aney F. has been involved in the local and international electronic dance music scene for almost 15 years, performing all across Europe, in South, Central and North America and as far as Australia while keeping a local residency at the Ambasada Gavioli club. Throughout time, his productions have been published by Subliminal, Deeperfect, New State Music, Moan, Wiggle, Inmotion, Serkal, Microzoo, Cellaa Music, Krad Records, Akbal Music and of course, his own label. For this material, he invites Artslaves and Sven Jaeger to reimagine the title track while bringing forward a refreshing and vibrant house-infused sound.

Side A opens with the original cut “Time Existence”, a driving techy composition that names the EP and reveals its concept through a guiding vocal sample that reflects upon the nature of time and its connection with the existence of all matter. The structure is maintained minimalistic, with the drumming sequences leading a repetitive synth pattern that balances perfectly when the ethereal background pads kick in and elegantly float throughout the whole journey. Following, “I Can Feel” keeps the tempo up, rolling thunderously along with a vocal cut that instantly calls for a dance the second we hear it. There’s a subtle old-school flavour embedded in the chords as well and the build-ups provide a colourful progression.

Side B is reserved for the remixes, with the first featuring the Italian duo at the controls. The reinterpretation offers a wobbling bassline, prominent hi-hats and filtered drums at its core, making it perfect for peak-time play at energized parties. The two are widely known for managing Moan Recordings based in Naples while the showcase events they organise includes travelling to Hungary, Spain, United Kingdom, France and Italy, among other countries.

Closing, Sven Jaeger maintains the dynamic aspect of the original, yet it creates a distinct mood, crafted with a solid modulated percussion, redesigned build-ups and a different approach on the vocal sample. Inspired by the early electronic acts like Kraftwerk, Depeche Mode and the raves in Germany around the early ’90s, Sven has been around ever since, always working with music, from producing and mixing to promotion and A&R. You can find his releases out on Zoo Lab, Yoruba Grooves, Baile Music, Rework and Cellaa Music, to name a few.
