Unknown – OUVERT004 [Ouvert]

Ouvert presents its fourth pressing, maintaining a shroud of mystery in the air just like we’re accustomed to and keeping the artist behind the production Unknown and the tracks untitled. “OUVERT004” features two cuts on each side, all designed with different, smooth flavours of modern minimalistic house music. Could the artworks offer some details about the composer’s place of origin? Perhaps! Does it matter? No, it doesn’t, as the music speaks for itself!

With the label enjoying support from Cezar, Praslea, Priku, as well as other international figures in the scene, be ready to hear this 12” bumping on the soundsystem at parties all around the world. Time to listen to the snippets and explore the four tracks in more depth:

A1 kicks in with an uptempo progressive vibe, unleashing reverberated percussive elements, a colourful acidic bassline and numerous background oscillations of electric harmonies and warm notes. As the track progresses, the vocal samples add even more flavour, making the piece perfect for the dancefloor. Following, A2 goes old-school, offering a solid breakbeat layer interlaced with soulful jazzy synths, funky bass stabs and electrifying vocals, all packed-up in classic build-ups and emotionally energetic moments.

On the flipside, B1 reveals a stripped-down rhythm build with emphasized wobbling bass notes, swirling effects, heavy modulated voices and various complementary layers that make the whole journey swing from one side to the other of the room. B2 closes the material with a more deeper sound, where a shuffling drumming sequence elegantly blended with a spiralling soundscape goes into the realm of exotic daydreaming, spawning up bright frequencies and laid-back vocal cuts.
