Lumieux – Audio Island EP [Abartik]
Basel-based underground record label Abartik returns with a double 12” titled “Audio Island EP” signed by local artist Preda Alin Razvan aka Lumieux. The pressings reveal three original tracks and a remix provided by Amphia’s co-owner Cristi Cons, all summing up to over 40 minutes of groovy and immersive rhythms. Founded in October 2012 in Switzerland, the imprint is also involved in organizing amazing events and showcase parties, while its catalogue includes releases from the likes of Brett Jacobs, Vid, Denis Kaznacheev, Cosmjn and Christopher Ledger.
Like most talented artists in the field, Lumieux started to explore his curiosity for electronic music since he was just a teenager. After years of hard work and commitment, his productions started to make waves in the industry and his name to appear on line-ups at numerous parties and festivals in Romania and across Europe. Slowly, he also gains support from other DJs and producers in the scene, all leading him to become the established artist that he is today. Among the labels he collaborated with we find Subtil, Purple Inc., Dissonant, Why So Series, Valioso, Sintope Vinyl Series, CerSenin Records, Particular and The Senss, while his latest adventures as a selector find him sharing the decks with David Gtronic, Zefzeed, Daniel Broesecke, Herck and Cally, to name only a few.
“Endless” opens the first record with a very engaging atmosphere built with clear percussive elements, a solid and playfull bassline and spacious build-ups. Aimed at the dancefloor, the dynamic nature of the track is also powered by a heavy modulated voice that blends perfectly with the other layers and effects. Cristi Cons‘ remix reveals a slightly deeper arrangement, with the original cuts maintaining their feeling while the background textures morph into ever-evolving eerie soundscapes, ready to make one lose himself to the rhythm.
“Form En Terra” takes on a different path, bringing forward a minimalistic sound designed with glitched ingredients, grainy percussion and distorted vocal samples that add spice to the whole story. Flowing at a steady pace, the cut seems perfect for peak time moments at any party. Closing, we find “Ey Vissa”, a wobbling composition that has a particular electric feeling embedded into it. Here, the bassline stands out along with harmonic voices flavoured with a robotic effect while the rhythm discharges numerous variations. A must-have for any collector or selector!
