Unknown Artist – Botanic Minds Sunset Series [Botanic Minds]

The British vinyl-only label Botanic Minds returns with its seventh instalment in their “Botanic Minds Sunset Series” without revealing the name of the artist behind it. Keeping it underground, the 12” arrives in a limited number of copies while early support comes from artists like Vincentlulian, Alci, Arapu, DeWalta, Lizz, Nima Gorji, Sublee, Cally, Sepp, Barac, Cesar Merveille and Faster, amongst others.

Launched in 2017, Botanic Minds focuses on releasing top-quality minimal-infused music as well as organising mysterious showcase events from time to time, with Bucharest checked on the map. Their catalogue has so far been signed by Rowlanz, Kevin Cook, Camelia, Mierea Dor aka Nu Zau, Pascal Benjamin, Barut, Direkt and co-founder Ted Amber. Heavily endorsed in the scene, the imprint’s distinct vision on modern electronica stands out while BMSS007 delivers an amazing collection of four untitled tracks.

A1 opens the wax with a very groovy arrangement flavoured with warm Floydian guitar strings that also help create tension through spacious breaks. The progressive bassline pattern is balanced by a dynamic percussive core making the piece perfect for the dancefloor. Following, A2 maintains the energy of the first cut while exploring deeper atmospheres and reverberating modulations.

On the flipside, B1 reveals intricate sequences designed with great care and powered by subtle whispered vocals. The rhythm is truly hypnotic and complex, with the sounds swirling around in a dazzling movement. B2 closes the EP with style bringing forward a relaxed downtempo composition that incorporates mellow guitars, long vibrant pads and melancholic chords.

Another great collectable right here!
