Various – Third Stream 003 [Third Stream]

The Spanish imprint Third Stream returns with a new chapter, this time with Romanian artists Incolor and Olivian Nour joining label-head Alex Font for a steaming wax designed for the dancefloor. Packing three solid groovers, the pressing is available in a limited number of copies and has already been tested on some serious soundsystems by well-known artists. With the previous two releases signed by Alex, Third Stream functions as a sublabel for Acmé and has all it needs to be classified as a true underground enterprise.

Alex Font has been involved in the electronic music culture since he was very young and managed to bring forward something unique after years and years of mixing, producing and digging for quality records. He performed at numerous parties and travelled across Europe, always delivering the good vibes. Aside from the music dispatched through his own playgrounds, he also collaborated with Minimo Records, Timbee Music, Oblack and Floorplay Music.

With a dynamic and innovative fingerprint sound, Incolor has slowly built a name for himself and gained the support he needed to go even further. Having Palavre Records, Capodopere, Senzorial and Pleasure Zone Limited included in his discography is just another proof of his skills and versatility. Olivian Nour is known for his releases with Tzinah, Zoo:Technique, Mriya Records, Memoria, Body Parts, Elarum and Tandem Records while he shared the decks with names like Archie Hamilton, Magda, Praslesh, Petre Inspirescu and Unisson, to name only a few. A while back, he founded Melotherapy, a Bucharest-based underground outpost hosting EPs from Borodin, Coriesu and Clarkent.

On Side A we find Incolor with “Finu Romica”, a rolling minimal piece infused with solid layers of percussion and bass, to which quirky effects and intricate micropatterns are added. A rotative sequence of notes comes in and out of focus while the cut builds tension with an inviting vocal sample.

On the B-Side, Alex presents “London”, an electric track that reveals a very funky soundscape flavoured with playfull synth arrangements and retro flavours. A smoothly filtered voice guides the engaging variations while the concept is set to reverberate somewhere beyond the standard electro, house or techno genres.

Closing the VA there’s Olivian’s “Database” revealing a rollercoaster of warm textures, wobbling patterns and dance-inducing harmonics. The background running effects add a distinctive vibe to the whole cut while pressure is applied with style.
