UK-based Leftback Records returns with “Don’t Turn Around EP”, the first solo material signed by rising Dj and producer Miller. The 12” packs four solid minimalistic cuts designed with vibrant harmonics and already enjoys support from artists like Ferro, Vlad Arapasu, Ada Kaleh, Vid, Laura Jones, Herck, Matt Star and Tijn. This adds even more colour to a catalogue that already includes amazing music from Groovesh, David Gtronic, Kashawar, Chris Boardman, Dragosh and label-owners themselves, Michael McLardy and Dudley Strangeways.

A resident at Ibiza Underground and founder of the Real Gang label and events series, Danny Miller showcased his sound across the island at DC10 and The Zoo Project, while also dispatching amazing vibes at London’s Fabric and Amsterdam’s hidden gem BRET. Preferring the authenticity that comes with playing vinyl, he developed a distinct style by focusing on creating depth through his selections while also connecting with the dancefloor, for an immersive experience. He’s also known for his notable collaboration with Thomas Highfield aka Miffy, with whom he shared the decks on multiple occasions and dispatched tracks on Aimed, SlapFunk Records, Draft and In Haus Wax.

💥 Let’s dive in deeply into Miller‘s carefully crafted sound dimensions guided by the hypnotic rhythm of A2 “Stripped Back”, available as a full-length track exclusively on feeder sound:

Just like the title hints, the composition here is minimalistic yet incredibly engaging, as the background textures, effects and swirling micropatterns create a dynamic balance. Tension is built slowly after the breakdown and layers are brought in and out of focus with elegance while the journey flows at a pounding pace.

The EP kicks-in with the title track, an eerie cut dominated by a prominent choir that induces a spinning sensation through its frequencies while a delicate jazzy voice sings Billie Holiday’s “You Go To My Head”. Guided by these elements, the cut flows at a steady pace with the drumming offering a crisp and uptempo vibration.

The B-Side opens with “Modufrec”, another strong peak-time cut that’s been doing the rounds on dancefloors such as DC10 and VBX with its clicky patterns and ever-evolving percussion. The background reveals subtle rotating chords while modulated vocal samples and quirky effects add even more spice. The closing track “Atsuen” provides a slightly different groove in the form of an intricate breakbeat with distinct electronic blasts from hardware synths and samplers.
