Various – Resketch 001 [Resketch]
Based in Siegen, Germany, the underground vinyl-only record label Resketch marks its debut with an amazing Various Artists compilation featuring Ema Remedi, Cajetanus, Acanalar and Daniel Gorziza. With four engaging cuts brought forward by very talented artists, Resketch 001 is ready to take over any dancefloor while the imprint started hosting an online podcast series at the same time. This musical endeavour is one to look out for!
The two label heads, Cajetanus and Daniel Gorziza also known as SameSame, sure put on display some serious vibes here, inviting Berlin-based Ema Remedi and UK-based Benjamin Clarke and Connor Hillery with their Acanalar project on this first pressing. The sound goes on an immersive journey through various frequencies infused with minimalistic rhythms, deep textures and uptempo vibrations.
Opening Side A, Ema delivers “Tirana”, a solid minimal cut designed with an intricate steady-paced percussive sequence that elegantly merges with abstract effects and rotative modulations. In the background, the whispered vocals create a mysterious atmosphere, slowly gaining focus and momentum as tension is built through vivid variations. Following, we find Cajetanus with “Timeframe”, an uplifting funky piece that raises the tempo with crisp drumming, filtered vocals and a dynamic structure. From time to time, we hear subtly crafted micropatterns that switch the gears and make one start moving his body in an instant!
On the flipside, we first find “Sleep Patterns”, a loopy house tune with some stripped back grooves spinning into ethereal realms signed by Acanalar and “Rei Miro” by Daniel Gorziza, a warm piece that drops some strong drifting pad sounds and eerie vocal samples. A must-have for any collector or selector, RES001 has all it takes for a record to become a classic 12”.
