In his many travels, he delighted numerous people at various parties and festivals all across the continent and beyond, to Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Indonesia and South America. Having a solid grounding in club culture since his late teens make Ben’s connection with the dancefloor run deep, likewise, his studio endeavours are aimed squarely at those who dedicate their time to dancing the night away.
“I’m very excited to return to my home Inkal with an EP of two long-awaited tracks that have been thoroughly road-tested.” – Ben Rau
On Side A we find the title track “Out There”, an engaging carousel of funk-infused sounds and disco licks that rolls with a pumping percussion, smoothly combined with a playful bassline and shuffling hi-hats. The electric guitar hits and the delayed vocals create a vibrant peak time cut that shows off Ben’s big room sensitivities.
On the B Side, there’s “What Is Love”, a deeper and more mysterious rhythm, designed with eerie atmospherics and effects, as well as enigmatic voices that tell the story. The drumming is minimalistic, revealing subtle layers of bleeps and glitches that harmonically blend with colourful funky swings.
