CL-ljud – Fragments [Fragments]

CL-ljud – Fragments [Fragments]

Portugal-based imprint Fragments presents its first pressing in the form of the self-titled three-tracker signed by the Italian artist CL-ljud. The 12” is designed with trippy minimal touches and deep atmospheres, while the wax itself is available in a limited number of copies.

Active since 2015, the label brought forward amazing music in digital format, so it was a natural step to debut on wax with style, inviting Claudio Zomparelli aka CL-ljud to be the one who breaks the ice. Well-known for his collaborations with Kootz Music, Simple Things Records, Osmosis Audio, Tip Tap, Rewire, Punchis Records, Zeitlos, Bad Barbie Records, Welter, Archipel and Yoruba Grooves, amongst others, he also likes to record exquisite podcasts for various platforms, including our own feeder sound. On FRAGMENTS001 we’ll see him drop some solid minimal, so let’s dive in with the volume up.

Here’s A1 “Loving Day” featured by Verzila on his channel:

Side A is dedicated to “Loving Day”, a hypnotic piece designed with ever-evolving drumming sequences and background textures. There’s a subtle graininess added to the main layers that provides an eerie dimension to the whole cut, while the synth arrangements transform into a mysterious journey. Listen carefully and you will also hear some voices calling for your name on a dim-lighted dancefloor.

On Side B, we first find the uncanny “Sunny Morning”, a rotative rhythm infused with syncopated measures and intricate glitching. The atmosphere here is dark and spooky, with the core sounds swirling around in cavernous patterns. Closing the vinyl, the deep and warm “Magnetic Waves” flow at a steady pace, building tension with ease while the soundscape evolves into a complex web of micropatterns.
