Piktor – Similar Feelings [feeder sound]

We’re very excited to present our second vinyl-only release with local artist Victor Pavlovschi aka Piktor at the controls. Titled “Similar Feelings”, the 12” features three fresh and original cuts designed with hypnotic and eerie atmospheres and rhythms, while de artwork is provided by KSELEQOQYNQYSHY, our guest painter for the Live Streaming event scheduled alongside Ada Kaleh on September 25h.

For more than 15 years, feeder.ro works as an alternative agency that connects local and international artists with an insightful audience and this vinyl-only release marks another important achievement. With a focus on the local scene and stemming from the same passion for electronic music that created the weekly feeder sound series, the review column, as well as the possibility for renowned or emerging artists to contribute to the platform on their own, the EP also stands as a celebration to almost three years of collaboration with deejay.de.

Almost one year ago, the first wax we published, “Suflet Prezent” EP by Romanian artist Dragutesku, was quickly sold out, benefitting from global distribution through excellent record stores. Investigating the contemporary local culture we came across a lot of groovy sounds, mysterious rhythms and beautiful compositions, coming from more or lesser-known artists. For the second chapter, we invited Piktor to graciously “paint” an organic soundscape that’s ready to amaze and energise dancefloors worldwide. Let’s dive in!

Opening Side A we first find “Similar Feelings”, an uplifting rhythm that smoothly flows with long bright pads and ethereal textures in the background while the percussive elements create intricate variations. In focus, there’s a distinct synth sequence which elegantly complements the bassline and the low frequencies, adding a warm groovy feeling to the whole composition. Following, there’s “The Night Before”, a deeper minimalistic cut built with abstract sounds and delicate micropatterns. Spinning with energy, the layering provides a steady arrangement for DJs to use as a tool for intricate transitions or warm-up moments.

Side B is dedicated to “The Gift That Keeps on Giving”, a track that runs for 11 minutes, building a multispectral image akin to an unearthly reverie. Reverberating notes and dubby ambiences combine in an uncanny harmony with the uncommon drumming patterns, bringing forward electronic sounds hard to define as a specific genre, infused with minimal and progressive vibrations.

Piktor - Similar Feelings [feeder sound] back

Born in Romania and now residing in Vienna, Austria, Victor Pavlovschi is well-known for his vibrant selections as a DJ, as well as for his collaborations with Lokomotiv, Subtil Records and Baumbaum Label, where he recently dropped “Second Thoughts” EP from which we exclusively premiered A2, “Up In The Air“. Last year, his mix for the feeder sound podcast series was number 1 in the annual TOP 10 with 14.1k plays and counting, a set that kicked in with “The Night Before” and also included the title track.
