Vot’e – Hammersmith Flyover [Minimmal Movement]
The well-known Dutch record label Minimmal Movement returns with another amazing vinyl-only pressing, this time with Vot’e at the controls and local artist Paul Agripa on remix duties. Titled “Hammersmith Flyover” the 12” features two tracks, one on each side, designed with elegant acoustic elements, smooth deep house vibes and minimalistic arrangements. Early support comes from the likes of Tulbure and Nu Zau.
The first release to be delivered by Vot’e adds to a vibrant catalogue signed by Yaroslav Lenzyak, Podime, Raru, Unisson, Vid aka Bacauanu, Lixir and Oprea Timpu, amongst others. Based in Nijmegen a.k.a. Nimma in the Netherlands, the imprint also runs a podcast series with the same name, dedicated to modern electronic dance music.
With releases on imprints such as Cuplet, Zimbru, Subtil, Uvar, as well as with a full calendar marked by events and studio time, Paul Agripa is already a well-established name on the local scene. His career so far has been driven by passion and the crowds know this, always dancing and enjoying the music he plays. He is one of those DJs that create a sense of happiness and pure joy to the lucky people that get to experience his sets.
Side A reveals the original take on the title track, a dreamy composition built with field recordings, acoustic patterns, constantly evolving melodies and synths, as well as smooth, intricate percussions. The rhythm is alluring and catchy as the cut builds tension through a series of intricate variations. The B-Side features the remix, a soothing cut with a deeper approach. The swingy, playful hats are brought in and out of focus in carefully chosen times, defining the final build, while the background textures and pads add up to the fairytale.
