In our recent interview, part of the Un-hidden Bucharest series, KSELEQOQYNQYSHY (Houses with Eyes Closed) talked about the making of his first “Un-hidden” mural at the Faculty of Sociology and Social Work.

The initial project, painted last year on a surface of approximately 50m, was “like a meditation exercise” and an opportunity for students to interact directly with the artist, and resonate with the narrated story and its message.

In March, we visited KSELEQOQYNQYSHY while he was working on his second mural in the faculty’s courtyard. Letting things flow naturally and guided by intuition, “the visual narrator” gives life to fantastical elements to awaken the collective consciousness and make us aware of what is outside the matrix. With each symbol and character, he outlines the spiritual architecture of a unique realm, where we find closed or open eyes, baobab trees, UFOs with houses inside, numerological meanings and more, highlighted by a chromatic that carries us through – not at all random – shades of purple and blue.

About the new intervention, KSELEQOQYNQYSHY writes on Instagram that “inside each building, there is another world. And in that world, there are infinite buildings and each one has other universes inside. And on each planet, there is another world with infinite buildings and characters.” So we are invited to explore the boundless dimensions of creation, and this is just one of the messages hidden in his piece.

With this mural, the artist concludes the “Un-hidden” project at the Faculty of Sociology and Social Work on Schitu Măgureanu 9 Boulevard. Positive reactions came not only from students but also from the Dean of the Faculty, Doru Buzducea, who captured on Facebook how the mural cheers up the entire space. At the same time, a detail of the intervention made by KSELEQOQYNQYSHY in 2018, with the support of the faculty and AFCN, is used as the visual identity for the tenth edition of the event ECSWR 2020 – European Conference for Social Work Research, which will be held in April next year at the University of Bucharest.

In the online shop, you can find and buy signed prints, original artworks and sticker packs by the artist.
