feeder sound exclusive premiere: Tripmastaz & Alexkid _ Catch 33 [call_lab]

Tripmastaz is one of Russia’s finest exports to the underground house and techno scene. A veteran DJ and producer originally hailing from the grimy industrial city of Chelyabinsk, Trip has devoted his life to electronic music since early childhood. This led to his first musical experiments at the age of fourteen and a professional career as a DJ since ’99. Through numerous local gigs and parties, he developed his amazing and unique style which gained attention worldwide, combining non-typical grooves and moods, yet keeping it freaky, funky, raw and original.

His sound was brought forward by well-known labels like Desolat, Cadenza, Cocoon, Minus, I’m A House Gangster, Sudden Drop and Be As One, to name only a few. He establishes his own Plant 74 Records, with its releases being licensed to compilations like !K7 DJ-Kicks, Kehakuma, Defected and Ministry of Sound. In 2017 Andrew founded four vinyl-only labels: Tripmastaz, Plant 74 Wax, Purple & Orange and Dance Mafia, in order to explore different angles of his artistry and dedication to the underground dance music. After a very energetic 2018, full of performances and releases, he’s now about to enter the next phase in his much-respected career thanks to a recent move to Berlin.

Continuing the collaborative work alongside DJ Sneak on the likes of Kwench, Rawthentic and Hot Trax, recently he’s taken the collab process one step further, siding up here with Alexkid, Cesar Merveille and Howl Ensemble for the debut release on his appropriately named call_lab label. Featuring handmade artwork by St. Petersburg-based graphic artist mojo_monsta, it’s another example of Plant 74 label owner’s consistent penchant for a high-class house and techno music.

We’re very excited to exclusively premiere on feeder sound the full-length opening track of the wax, titled “Catch 33” and produced in collaboration with Berlin-based Alexkid.

Spinning with a groovy flow, the track has a weighty, dubby vibe revealing a solid wobbling bassline and driving percussion. A groaning, subtle atmosphere creates a distinct sound dimension and the variations of the core sounds keep the rhythm in focus and balanced. An uplifting, very funky cut here!

“For years I’ve been so concentrated on my own music, but over the last few years, I have embraced the collaboration process with friends and musicians I love and respect. Call_lab01 is just the beginning!” – Tripmastaz

call_lab 01 also features the vibrant deep meanders of “Worship” composed with Cesar and the trippy, whimsical “Mayday” designed alongside Howl Ensemble. With releases forthcoming on Bass Culture, Berg Audio, Cuttin Headz and Ovum, 2019 looks to be a great year for the Russian artist. Stay tuned!
