We had a chat with Italian duo M.F.S: Observatory about their influences, their latest EP ‘Observatory R’ and much more. Check out what they had to say below.
What was your first musical inspiration that made you fall in love with music?
We fell in love really young with Daft Punk, we started to view music with different eyes then.
Originally from Naples, Do you feel your hometown has influence on your music and if so in what way?
Yes of course Naples has a high quality music scene, when we started being on the dance floor in the techno and tech house parties, we started to fall in love with this genre.
Are you still based in Naples and do you play there often?
Mattia is based in London now and Francesco in Naples, we take part in a lot of private parties in Naples.
What can you tell us about your new EP Observatory R? Can you pick a favourite track on it?
It’s a really strange EP, a mix of sound, we have the house influence but also acid and techno, Favourite one…All the 5 tracks!
Can you tell us your favourite track released this year?
‘Dirty’ out on Hector Couto’s Roush Label.
Observatory Music the label, how is it going for you? What inspired you to start your own label? What are the pros and cons?
We start to run Obm with the idea to do just release in alphabetic order and just with M.F.S: Observatory tracks, but sometimes we do a release or VA from another producer.
What other artists on the label can we expect to see a lot from in the future?
We will continue with our idea with the M.F.S: Observatory release, but some news coming soon, I can just say don’t stop following us.
And finally what can we expect to see next from you guys?
New project and music coming soon, we started a collaboration with the Spanish producer Ekai (Viva Music and Roush Label). We signed a new EP on Roush Label, we will back on Oblack Records, My Vision Records with a remix from Jey Kurmis and New Violence.
And there will be our debut on Nasty Funk Records.
