feeder sound exclusive premiere: Chemars – PNG EP [Sang Out Of Tune]
We are more than happy to exclusively feature PNG EP signed by local artist Chemars today, as it will be officially available starting tomorrow!
Released by the Romanian imprint Sang Out Of Tune, the EP features two house-infused rhythms influenced by the dance culture of the ’90s. Freshly established by The Rabbit King, SOOT sets out as an outlet for the underdogs who don’t follow the hype and the dogma genre. The Model, Vlad Bretan, Alex Rusu and Cojoc are also some of the first to embark in this new musical adventure.
Born in Romania, Muntean Eugen-Manuel a.k.a. Chemars is a producer and DJ who had a special interest in music since he was just a little kid. He really started his affair with it in 1997 when he went to his first open-air rave and discovered underground electronic music. In time, he finds his favourite sound in the form of jazzy, jackin’, funky, disco, deep and underground tech house, and starts mixing. In 2007 he begins crafting his own tracks and one year later he signs his first release with Dustpan Recordings. This determined him to continue on this path, and more releases followed on well-known labels from the house music scene like Mark Farina’s Great Lakes Audio, The Factory, Viva Recordings, Funkfield, Blockhead Recordings, Juiced Music, Meltin Funk Records, and many others. He also dispatched remixes for artists like Fries & Bridges (Hector Moralez & Phil Weeks), Inland Knights, Joey Youngman, Tommy Largo, Kinky Movement, Demarkus Lewis, Doc Link and Angelo Ferreri, to name just a few. In 2010 he decides to leave his mark and starts his own label, Ginkgo Music. The imprint released over 100 house-infused materials until now and promotes artists from all over the world. A dedicated artist, Chemars has a rich discography, with over 200 releases on more than 50 labels, totaling over 350 tracks. We shall see from now on what the future brings.
“Catch You” plays out as a soulful and deep cut and has this mesmerizing effect provided by a creative detuning of the leading synth layer. Adding a wobbling atmosphere to the track, the bassline merges in the rhythm with elegance, and the percussion delivers a groovy balance. The vocal sample stands out as the main motif creating beautiful transitions and build-ups. Naming the EP, “PNG” reveals itself as a true dancefloor shaker, a strong and crisp rhythm spiced-up by vintage sounds and retro house patterns. The composition draws influence from disco music, uses breakbeat elements for the percussion, and manages to deliver a true old-school vibe.
